About the Field Spaniel
The Field Spaniel was originally created in Great Britain to be used as a hunting dog.
Today, this dog is used as both a companion and hunting dog.
The Field Spaniel Temperment and Intelligence
Field Spaniels are very friendly and affectionate dogs who love to play with their family members. They the life of the party and love to be in the company of humans. These dogs are very energetic require a lot of exercise. Though they are very intelligent, they tend to get bored easily and can become destructive. They are very good with children and other animals. These dogs need to begin obedience classed early because they can become overly timid if not socialized well.
Field Spaniel Characteristics
The Field Spaniel has skull that is flat with raised brows. They have almond shaped dark eyes, ears that are long and wide, a long and lean muzzle, and a large nose with open nostrils. Whether they have a docked tail or not, the tail is carried low. The have strong legs and compact feet with well arched toes. This breed has a double coat. The outer coat is wavy and long while the undercoat is short and dense. There is feathering of the coat on the ears, chest, legs and belly. The most common colors for this breed are black, liver, golden liver, or bicolored.
Field Spaniel Health Concerns
This breed is prone to dysplasia and thyroid disease.
Choosing a Field Spaniel
The Field Spaniel needs a lot of exercise and is most happy when in a home iwht a large yard to run and play.
