I have been reading some posts about trimming dew claws, and wrote briefly on another post subject about having them removed. I think Luke has the floppy dew claws. I guess that is detached. Why would some Pyrs have one kind and others have another kind? Am I right in understanding that you all think the detached ones should be removed so they won't get caught on things? We are in a fenced back yard situation so won't be out in the woods or anything. Or does that not even matter?

If your pup is not having problems with them and your vet says they're secure and fine (that they're normal, attached, dew claws) leave 'em as they are.

Double dew claws are part of what makes a Pyr. Ursa's are kind of floppy and a pain to trim around but I'd never consider removing thm.

Thank you. I have decided the same from what I've heard on here. I didn't want to mess with nature unless it was risky to keep them on.
