: Help name our new fur baby!
: Gypsy Jazmine December 13, 2005, 01:39:01 AM
My hubby wants her name to have something to do with surviving the odds...We picked her up for Kuvasz rescue & were almost immediate foster failures...lol ...She was underweight & at a shelter with outdoor dog kennels...I would bet the farm she was abused & kept outside...We love her & she needs a name that is fitting of her...She is our little peacekeeper where Samson & Pippin are concerned & every bit a lady...Any ideas?

ADA - Prosperous and joyful.

Adina - Hebrew - Lovely. She's the most beautiful girl dog you've ever seen

Adoria - Latin - Has adorable qualities. You can't help but fall in love with this girl dog.

Anastasia - Greek - Resurrection. A great name for the dog that you rescued from an animal shelter. Also is the patron saint of weavers.

BELLE French for "beautiful."

Bliss - This girl dog provides you with priceless joy and happiness.

Bridget - Irish - One who is strong.

Rovivrus?  (Survivor backwards and Rovi for short?)
Look for historical figures that beat the odds, maybe one from your background?  Or do survivor (Or something similar) with a dictionary from your favorite language.

I love Astrid and Anastasia.

How about Diana - she was the goddess of war (battles?) (that's also my Mom's name, so I'm kinda partial)

Helen (of Troy?)

And best of all... Jeanne - heck! If I haven't overcome battles lately, who has????

I mean, besides Jenn, Nicki, Sherry, and about 20 other people on this site!

Hmmm... I like Fortune a lot! (Or Fortuna?)
I always end up naming my animals after movie characters (or muppet characters) that I like, maybe who have a similar personality.
For example this is a not-well-known fact... I named Nigel after the character Nigel Tufnel in the movie "This is Spinal Tap" because frankly, he is a rather goofy unintelligent character... like my sweet Nigel. :D

So if I had a beautiful new white female... I would name her "Amalthea" from the movie The Last Unicorn, a magical and beautiful white creature.

That's just always the way my animals get named!!! ;D

Is the dog pictured the one you're looking to name? Noel is a pretty name.  To me it is definately associated with overcoming hardship.  The spokesdog for the rescue group that I work for is named Noel becaus she was found around christmastime amlost beated to death and her ears cut off.  She is a wonderful dog with a sad story.  I can share more later and post some pics if you like...

names I like...

Liberty - associated with freedom...your new baby (I've failed fostering too) is starting a new life with you...a new freedom..and if your patriotic...th er you're set

Lenci - a Kuvasz is hungarian right? - This is a Hungarian name meaning Light

Asa - the morning - a new day..a new life for a new dog

Bela - mean the white one..another Hungarian name

Just a few suggestins from me...good luck...

I like Almathea, too! Would it be too hard to say all the time? Maybe Alma for short?

I still like Astrid quite a bit, and Noelle is just too pretty.
