Bo was recently diagnosed with a luxating patella on her rear right leg (level 2). Most of the time it doesn't bother her, but since we've brought Floyd home and they are playing a lot, it seems to be popping out of place more often. My husband & I were thinking that she might benefit from a knee brace, but after an exhaustive google search, we only came up with some serious orthopedic models for dogs with severe displasia/amputation. Does anyone have any suggestions for something that could be used for a knee brace? Has anyone tried this before? I was thinking of a human elbow brace (the neoprene kind) and perhaps some vet tape....
Suggestions?

I have seen another type of brace for the hocks, but was reading something yesterday about most vets don't know how to fit a dog for a brace and due to the way a dogs legs are constructed braces are very problematic.
You will probably need to get surgery to deepen the grove the patella rides in so that he does not end up rupturing his ACL later on.

Halo has the same thing on the left rear leg. We go to the Ortho tomorrow. If we get him to sit it goes back in but its hard watching him on 3 legs with his size. Let you know what the vet says. Good luck.

How is Flloyd doing - where you able to find a proper brace?
I would like to suggest a supplement that you can give him to help lubricate his joints. Syn Flex, liquid glucosamine is all natural, has several anti-inflammatory, pain relieve ingredients, with no dangerous side effects. It has worked wonders for my dog.
