4  Giant Schnauzers / Giant Schnauzer Discussions / pupppy heartworm? on: August 16, 2006, 03:03:24 AM
I'm getting mixed info on what age to start our pup on heartgaurd!  she is 10.5 weeks now.  our vet was saying 4 months???   when I take her outside SKEETERS are everywhere in the grass!  she is on advantix...fle as/ticks/mosquitos...ya know.  BUT, I am not sure it's working???  b/c she spins around and bites her tail and rear hips often.
one other question how many months do pups eat pup feed b/f going up to adult food...this isn't a problem...just curious? Smiley
thanks!!!

knew a guy that had one and then got another one; they were soooo very beautiful.  he trained them for duck retrieving and said they were really good at it.  they were not friendly at all toward strangers, but very affectionate w/ him and his family.  good luck

7  BPO General Forum / General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / AKC papers??? on: August 07, 2006, 05:30:21 AM
OK, here's how it is....the breeder only signed his signature and left everything else blank.  this pup was actually sold to another person by breeder and in short buyer was unable to keep pup.  I buy pup from them and have papers, what do I do now?  pup has NOT been registered yet.  so I don't think it's like a transfer officially on paper anyway.  Do i fill in my name and address?  do breeders every leave this blank and just let buyer fill rest in?  The original owner gave me all paperwork and told me to have her registered, b/c they didn't not have time d/t only having her very short period of time b/f they decided not to keep her.  other question does a breeder turn in list of original buyers names of the litter as litter mates are purchased.  don't want to go about any thing in wrong way.  so any help/info is welcome.
thanks in advance.

Her other mommy had her booked for cut late this week; but I just love the fluffy puppy look, but then again how long is too long?

hi!  new to board as well!  this is our first GS and I am hoping for help along the way.  your pics are great...I love the one w/ you child and dog...very sweet.  Our five yr old is a little afraid of our newest member to our family, b/c she nips and bites at EVERYTHING...a nd puppy teeth as you know are like razors!
hopefully my DH will put Anna's pics on here for me soon, so you all can see our little terror! LOL
welcome!
12  Giant Schnauzers / Giant Schnauzer Discussions / Re: cropped ears on: August 02, 2006, 01:56:42 AM
We decided to keep Anna's ears natural; only b/c we didn't want to go thru the stress of it all....being a lifelong boxer and pit owner...I just don't feel young enuff anymore for that extra stress in my life...have enuff on my plate already!  I think the gs is very striking w/ cropped ears though!  it looks so ...what's the word...maybe distinguished or powerful...           So,QUESTION...How do you tape natural ears so they get that little up at the base and then the flop over from the top...sorta like a button ear???  I have read different techniques for other breeds but can't find it for a GS w/ natural ears.  I just don't want them to be fly-away or flat to her head and droooping...ca n I get them somewhere in b/t???  any advice?
