Dog Show Stories,
« on: June 16, 2005, 10:40:08 am »
I am playing around with the idea of showing Dixie Darlin.  I would love you hear any stories of dog shows.  I want to know the good the bad and the ugly, tell me those stories, please.

I have seen that show.  I hope that is not the normal show person.  I am thinking I would like to give it a try with Dixie Darlin' just to see if it is fun.  I would look at it if we win great if not so what.  I just plan to go to a few within an hour are so drive from us.  Just though I would see if anyone on this board has done a show.

Deciding to show or not to show, IMO totally depends on your lifestyle and financial position. We opted against showing and have kept Bear intact as a pet and working dog someday. We dissapointed our breeder by not showing Bear but the show lifestyle is not something we could get used to. It is very political and expensive and knowing us we would want to be the best and win alot. We go to local shows and watch the Eukenuba and Westminster on tv and root for those that we know, like our breeder. She has spent so much money and time on getting her dogs to be invited to the shows. They are awesomely beautiful dogs though and if that is what you want, then go for it.  We do have friends that show and love it though. They have tons of friends they party with every weekend when out and about and since they have no children or their kids are grown already, they find it a fantastic way to spend their time and money.
Hugs,
