Qurestions about Pit Bulls
« on: October 10, 2006, 07:52:33 am »
I've heard Pits live long lives and I have heard they usually die young (7 to 8 yrs old)
Can anyone give me their insight and how long Pits live to usually?

I'm also told Pits are prone to mass cell lumps and my girl (who is almost 6 y/o) is having a lumpectopmy Monday. Can any Pittie owners who have dealt with this give me some insight.

Well cared for protected pits have the same lifespan as most med sized dogs. The lower numbers are a result of the high incidents of cruelty, neglect, abuse and fighting that is so prevelent in the breed. Pitties don't neccisarily die young genetically or naturally, but are frequently helped there by "Humanity". :-\
