Uh Oh Ticks
« on: October 11, 2006, 02:57:12 am »
Hi,

Well living in New England I thought tick Season was over. I last Frontlined Winslow in Early September. Well last night I found 5 Tickets on his head  :o  >:(  I called the vet they said to watch and see if he shows joint pain but that he should be ok.

I am worried and I feel like a bad dad  :-[ Any suggestions on anything to watch for? I am front lining him tonight and hopefully the risidual effect from a summer of Frontline will hold off any problems Fingers Crossed please.
Happy Tails to All

If your really worried wait a month and have your vet do the snap/titer tests for the diseases.  I think it takes at least 10 days to a month for it to show on the tests.  I know Lyme shows up on a heartworm snap test.  With Lyme you'll know it by the stiffness in the joints.

Unfortunately our mare Gabby has Lyme now and she's in pretty bad shape.  We just started her 56 pill 2X daily treatment of Omoxycycline (sp?).
