Am I overreacting, please tell me I am!
« on: February 06, 2007, 12:15:21 pm »
Okay, I am freaking myself out, do you think it is bloat?

So, Tonka has thrown up twice in the last hour. He is acting normal, still playing with Zoe, following me around and then going to sleep in whatever room I stop in.  But now I noticed, outside, that he was lunging a couple of times.  He ate normal this morning and has "cleaned up" his vomit.
What should I do?  Withhold water/food?
I am kind of a big deal!

No, his stomach is not disstended and it feels normal to the touch.  It is making gurgly sounds and he is drinking water.
I will do the ice thing, I have been giving him only measured amounts, but that sounds like a better idea.

maybe he just has a little stomach bug, you know, like people get the stomach flu.  so long as he's acting normal i would just keep an eye on him.  somebody did mention on the road trip thread that you can give them Dramamine.

He threw up again!  Now it is all water, but I did notice lots of dead grass in it.  I saw him eating it this morning, could this be the culprit?

I've experienced MANY tummy aches with Corben when he was young.  It always happens when he swallows something that isn't digestible (or easily digested anyway) like bone, wood/bark etc.  He usually will want to go outside and eat grass which helps him to vomit up what he shouldn't have eaten.

Go with your gut feeling if you think there's something really wrong and take him to the vet.

Is his water bowl raised? When my brothers dane got older he had to raise her dish because all of a sudden she started to throw up her water when she drank.

He does have a raised feeder.  I really hope he is just under the weather and starts feeling better.

I have a lot going on with my youngest, Sam, right now, and this is just a worry I don't need right now. :-[
