Swissy urination questions
« on: March 01, 2007, 11:40:12 am »
Hi,

I have a 17 week old female swissy and am concerned about the amount of water she drinks (and therefore, how much she urinates).  She currently drinks about 7 cups of water a day and urinates about 15 times a day.  Is this normal?
Thanks for any help.

She had a urinary tract infection which cleared up on antibiotic, but when the vet re-checked her urine she said it was 'diluted' which could indicate kidney trouble or it may simply be because she drinks so much.  We're going to re-check her in another week.  She does eat just fine and she has a lot of good puppy energy.

Her stool seems to be fine.

Thanks.

some medications can make them a lot more thirsty, esp. Prednisone (steroid).  it may just be the medicine, if she wasn't drinking so much before the antibiotics.
