SE Meet-N-Greet this coming weekend
« on: April 10, 2007, 04:26:07 am »
Wahoooo everyone - the meet and greet is just a few days away.... this is soooo exciting.

I scouted out a few other dog parks this past weekend as possible additional options to Piedmont Park... and have one more to check out today/tomorrow.

I am wondering...

How many people/dogs are planning to attend?

hahahaa Holly if you are gonna take Buddy then you had better make a Vet appointment before Friday... to have that Lo-Jack installed on him.  I mean Buddy is at the top of like 56587412253585 peoples kidnap lists.

Have fun you guys... but not tooooo much fun. And YES we do expect a lot of pictures.

I'm going to try to make it out Saturday. I have outpatient surgery on Friday and it will all depend on how I feel. Oreo most likely will not make it out. He'd love to run with the young'uns, but his hips won't let him. Please, keep me posted on events.

Jenn I just sent you a PM back.. and am sending one to you too Julie!  :)

I am going to scope out the last two dog parks after work today and will report back to y'all.

I am just concerned parking for Piedmont Park is going to be a problem... With the Dogwood Festival it will be on-street parking only.

In any event - I will let y'all know the choices tomorrow and we can make a final decision... I will go anywhere (Piedmont Park included)to see the meet-n-greeters and their pups! ;D

Okay fellow meet-n-greeters (love saying that!  lol) it is dog park decsion making time.

First, I just have to say in a city of 5 million people, I can not believe how few dog parks there are... it is sad! I did find an awesome neighborhood park with a huge open field off for dogs to frolick, however it is not fenced in... I am still trying to get over that disappointment ...lol

Here are the best three choices I've found.... let me know where y'all think is best and I'll post the directions! Wahoooooo - cant wait for Saturday!

1)Piedmont Park: 2+ acres (just a guess)located in midtown. Water and poop bags provided. The Dogwood festival will be this weekend, thus dogs are not allowed throughout the park, just to the off-leash section. Parking is on the street but if we get there earlier enough it shouldn't be too bad (another guess here). Of all the choices, this will have the most dogs at any given time. Check out link for some pics (pics 1,3,5 are of dog park). http://www.waymarking.com/wm/details.aspx?f=1&guid=9a438af4-0e82-44bb-9ae4-dcb45dfd316f

2)Graves Park: Just north of city in Norcross. 2 acres divided between dog run, large dogs, small dogs. Water and poop bags provided. Plenty of parking available in lot. see link for some pics. http://www.waymarking.com/wm/details.aspx?f=1&guid=0616379c-efdc-4248-86a5-4c7b755b735d&lat=33.84&lon=-85.148331&t=3&gid=2

3) Mason Mill: located betwen Piedmont and Graves. 1/2 acre. Water and poop bags provided. Plenty of parking in a lot. Check out link for pics (last pic shows dog park) http://www.waymarking.com/wm/details.aspx?f=1&guid=fb37b45b-b148-4ce4-9866-1e5a0961bcff

*modified to add Piedmont park photos link*

Which one do you think would be easiest to get to from Morrow (for people with no clue how to get around Atlanta)?

Oh the pressure.... I am the worst decision maker EVER (it drives my friends/family CRAZY....lol)but I will suck-it up for the sake of the group  :)

Graves and Mason Mills are not far off I-85N (about 8-10 miles apart)and relatively easy to get to.

I will be happy to escort y'all "caravan style" to whichever location (Piedmont included)  :)

I'm so excited for you guys.  I map quested the locations you guys are going to and it's not too bad of a drive from where we live (approx. 11 to 12 hours).  If Gracie weren't in the early stages of her first heat cycle I would be lobbying for a road trip with my boyfriend.  It would not be too difficult as he loves driving and especially to play with puppy dogs.  We'll have to wait for the next get together then.  You all are going to have so much fun..   :D

Rosco, 1 yr Toy German Shettweiler (designer mutt of course)and toy cause he's not Rotti or GSD size AT ALL.  Though they said he was a mix of the two..  Tonka, 3 year Great Dane
And last and most certainly NOT least, Linus 5 year old cat.

Okay, based on pics and ammenities, I like #2, then #1, then #3.

Based on closeness to Morrow I like #1, then #2, then #3.

So, I am not really helpful at all, and will be happy wherever we go!  You guys decide!!!  :D

HAHAHAHA - at least you put your choices in order! I haven't even done that! We'll see what the others have to say and come up with the final location and time too.

I just sent you and Julie a PM with some ATL info.

Also, Holly I PM'd you with my cell number.

*sigh* I soooooo wish I could go but 2 things now are keeping me from it.

#1 My OB said I could possibly go into labor by this weekend..

And even if I wasn't due for sometime now, my cousin died yesterday :'( Pretty sad too, she was only about 34. Though we were all expecting it, she had been fighting cancer for a while. So yeah, either way I can't make this M&G.

Too bad no one can swing by on their way and see me *hehe*. I am almost in AL after all  :P

I'm gonna chime in here and say, if the Dogwood Festival is going on this weekend, Piedmont Park is going to be crazy and cars might be getting towed and stuff like that. Not good for out-of-towners.

Are there any times set for Saturday or any plans for Sunday? I might have a DATE on Saturday evening (my first one in years!!) so I am trying to figure out a schedule! :D
