This may be a stupid question but....
« on: September 17, 2007, 06:12:41 pm »
How often do you guys get your pupperz nails clipped? i do Chloes myself, shes awesome about it and gives me no fuss at all, so i guess im lucky (i have read some of your stories and i im so happy i dont have to go through that) Anyway, Chloes nails seem to grow like weeds, and i dont know how often i should be cutting them. is there such a thing as "too often"? and are they just growing like weeds because she is and once shes full grown they will slow down? i feel like a dope asking this, but oh well! thanks guys!

Jenn, Cabeza is the same way. I LITERALLY haven't clipped his nails in YEARS. Yup, years. They don't grow. Or something. We walk on like, city sidewalks, so maybe they get worn down that way?

Chloe's mama, that's also the answer to your question. haha

We've trimmed Rosie's nails twice in the last year. Her nails just don't seem to grow much. Both times, my husband ended up trimming too much on one nail and making her bleed. I also think her walks on the sidewalk help trim them naturally.

YOU GUYS SUCK! i HAVE to trim Jigsaw's nails at LEAST once a week. if i let them go longer it will ruin her feet... if they get a certain length, the feet will eventually flatten- what BS. Zero i refuse to trim because he HATES his feet to be touched, he got them trimmed durring his neuter, and on rare vet visits. Reba is every two weeks, after a groom. and memphis is once a month...

As you can tell there is no such thing as a stupid question.

The lucky ones are the ones that have doggy's that trim their own.wearing them down on pavement or road.

Magic gets his trimmed about once a month.

They all seem to be a little different at growth rates.

We've never had to clip Greta or Jack's nails since we do daily walks on paved sidewalks/bike trails.  They just naturally wear down to the appropriate length.  Jack does have double dew claws so we trim those every 2-3 weeks, which he's not thrilled about, but goes along with anyway.
