Suggestions for meat based treats that are made in the USA?
« on: November 11, 2007, 03:24:38 am »
Any suggestions for meat based treats that are made in America?  Maybe someone knows of some that I am not aware of.  I think that companies, catalogs and websites should make information about the country of origin of their products easily available for consumers.

All the treats and bones on this site are made in the USA.

If you'd like while ordering you can help our parent clubs (United Hungarian Wirehaired Vizsla Asso.)fundraiser also :)

I believe all the Natura Products (Innova, Evo, California Natural, Karma, Healthwise, & Mother Nature) are made in South Dakota.

As for specifically meat based treats - Evo makes grain free treats which are available at many pet stores.

Here are a couple of links to the Natura site.

Maybe there is more than one company doing business as Smokehouse, other than the one on the home page of americandogtre ats.com, but the one I am thinking of is made in China, and had a recall as recently as September.  Once I see a brand with a recall, I am not likely to ever buy that brand again.

It sure is hard to find safe treats for our pets.  For now, we are buying the sturdiest Nylabones and saving meat and fish scraps to rub them on them to add flavor.

Here is a link to recall information for Smokehouse on itchmo.com
