Hi Everyone!
« on: March 24, 2008, 05:12:42 pm »
I haven't been around in awhile...life has been busy!

I thot I would pop in and get you all caught up. Ginger is growing! She went thru a funky face phase about a month ago. It just didn't look right. Her body got long and her legs were short and fat. Hubby said she looked like she was going to be a mimi GP! But she grows in spurts. She likes to stay outside. I was worried about her being out by herself at night, but she seems to prefer it to the warm house! When I come home from work she jumps around like a bunny and talks her head off! No barking yet, just noises like growls and such. I get such a kick out of her!

On to some pics!
Remember when I got her?

Sleeping in the coolest part of the house. 3mos old

Where's the puppy?

There she is! (4mos old)she has a chewy bone in her mouth!

So, there she is! I do have a few questions. When do they start barking? I have only heard her bark once. Ususally it just growls and doggie talking. Also, seeing as how she is the only GP around, will she have guarding instincts naturally or does she have to learn them from another older GP?

Thanks for looking!

She will start barking soon enough!!  If you have neighbors you might want to get her used to coming in the house at night- that is when they do the most barking.  The guard instinct is inherent in this breed and comes with time and some emotional maturity.  Some will show guard behaviors when several months old and others are well over a year old before they show their guard tendencies.  But Pyrs can reign supreme in the all night long barking which is one of their best performed guard traits.  :>)

Well, right now I don't have any close neighbors. My closest has sled dogs that bark like crazy when it is feeding time! Actually my Heeler/Collie mix is the barker. She barks at everything. So, I guess Ginger will learn from her  :D

Lily didn't start barking until she turned 7 months...now she would NOT shut up :( My neighbors don't mind it though because she scares raccoons and deer away and some bad people walking by :)
