Neutering
« on: April 11, 2008, 11:39:51 am »
I read in the thread about the pitbull, that someone recommended not neutering a giant breed until they are 1.5-2, so I would like to know why.  Gage is a rotty mastiff cross, and 80+ lbs at 6-7 months, and on the lean side, I was planning on getting him neutered next time we head south, but would like to know the reasons why we should wait please.

This is what my thinking was, I have dealt with an un-neutered male before, my male shiba was a show dog, and only neutered at 2 due to seizers.  He is small and was still a huge PITA to have.  Gage has not started to even lift his leg yet, and I am good with that, Tonka went from that to marking in the house pretty quick.

Here are the Shiba BTW, the black and tan is Ruffian, she is 12 and the red is Tonka who is 10.
