Making a dog bed ~ advice?
« on: May 01, 2008, 08:38:44 am »
I am making a dog bed from a reclaimed fabric couch cushion cover. I have a newf/lab mix. He's 13 weeks and about 25#. I am wondering how big I should make the bed. I can get foam pieces cut to size locally for very cheap in all densities. Would a sturdy foam work? Or shoudl I get a shredded foam and put cedar shavings in with it?
Thanks for any advice you have!

1 goat
2 rabbits
1 old chicken and 30 chicks
20 guinea keets
*whew!* that's a mouthful!

Oh thanks for the advice about the cedar! I had no idea. I'll stay away from that, then. I think I'll get a big piece and stuff the cover. The foam is really cheap and I could easily replace it if I need to. I don't think he'll pee on it again. He peed on my aussie's bed several times (and I'll be replacing that foam too) but he seems to be totally house broken now. Of course I realize accidents can happen, but he's been very reliable for a few weeks now.
