My Poor Lanie
« on: October 19, 2008, 01:23:08 pm »
Ok...Not sure when it happened but I guess Lanie was shaking her head today and blew her ear out.   So now its all swollen and huge and shes not feeling well at all.  My last lab did that but he had a history of bad ears and lots of head shaking.  Shes never had ear problems at all and I notice she was favoring it today. Cleaned them and noticed it.  I know it had just happened because she sleeps right beside me everynight.  Anyway, I am sad and will be taking her in tomorrow.

That's some pretty intense shaking. Poor Lanie. Could she have gotten bitten/stung by a creepy crawly or flying critter?

Well my baby is in surgery now :(  They will make the incision on the inside of the ear flap and  clean it really good and sew up both sides with the middle being open to drain...Sounds kind of yuck but I am just hoping it works.  Took two tries with my last lab.  Send good thoughts for my baby in surgery.  She slept so close to me last night and didnt move a muscle.  I do so love my little yellow dog ;)

Forgot to add a big thanks to you guys for all the well wishes!  You are the best...and a big Thank YOU to Paige whos been coaching me through this too

Well shes home and super groggy.  First of all I used Paiges vet for the first time.  Although I love my vet to death and have used him for over 11 years, he has gotten so pricey its scarey.  Even for the little stuff.  So Paige has been on me forever to try hers and we did and I really really liked her...Alot!  She pre-medicated Lanie so she could look real good at her ear and thinks most likely its a bite of some kind.  She tried draining it with very little coming out. After doing all her bloodwork and another heartworm and lyme test (just to be on safe side) she opted not to do the surgery.  So Lanie is wrapped up like shes had brain surgery and really pretty mad at me!  When they brought her out she passed right by me and went to Paige.  Haha...Shes doing well and starting to love me again.  Thanks to everyone and to Paige!  I seriously love you guys...sorry the pic is soooo bad
