Vacation Spots?
« on: December 27, 2008, 11:59:55 am »
So my friend wants to go on a road trip before I get married.  We don't want to drive more than 15 or 20 hours to get to our destination.

Anyone have any interesting destinations within 20 hours drive from PA?

Hmmmm......... ..that's a tough one.  I don't live on that side of the country, but here would be some of my top choices.   Have no idea if they fit under the 20 hr mark or not.

Washington D.C.  Awesome museums there.
NYC, NY.......again with the awesome museums among other things.
Niagra Falls?

Well, I suggested New Orleans but she wasn't interested.    We also don't want to go somewhere we have already been, which leaves out NYC.  She has no interest in going there and I grew up in NJ 20 min outside of NYC.  It's not exciting to me anymore  LOL.  As for Niagara Falls, I was just there in August and that is where Jeff proposed to me!  So I want that to be my most recent memory of Niagara.  ;D ;D

Savannah, sounds nice, though.  I'll have to suggest that to her.  It's so tough with us...she's my best friend, but  sometimes our interests are so different.  I wouldn't be suprised if it takes til September to figure out where we are going!!

Savannah sounds lovely.
Well, you can always come to Chicago!  ;)
And depending on where you are located in Pa, I might
suggest Rapid City SD for something a bit different. (its 23 hrs from central Pa).  You've got the badlands and mount rushmore there plus alot of cool caves and other touristy things.  I always wanted to go to the bear park but I was vetoed by the family.  :P  Depending on the time of year there's great skiing too.  ;D

I LOOOOOVE Savanna. It is such a fun and interesting place. There are a lot of fun places in the S.E. Beaufort SC is a beautiful little town.

Chicago is WAY fun, too!

Madison, WI is really cool.

Bloomington, IN is a really nice college town!

The Smokey Mountains are AWESOME!

What time of year will your trip be?  That will make a big difference in your choices.

Gosh you are smart.

yeah some of the caves there are amazing.  if i remember correctly, the ones that I saw were Bethlehem Cave, Jewel Cave, and one other that is escaping me (wind cave maybe).  Lots of steps.......lo l.  There's also some neat dinosaur places along the way (they found the larges T-Rex on record out there).
