... as in Woodpecker.
I was sitting at the computer yesterday when all of a sudden, Jay shouts, "There's a Pileated Woodpecker!!!!" After looking at him like he was insane(which believe me, he is), I then saw what he was pointing at. Woody!!! A real Pileated Woodpecker!
The weird thing is that it was right out our computer room window and across our driveway. The even weirder thing is that since the begining of April, we've been stalking one a mile away on the main road that goes from our house to the dairy farm(that's why Jay even knew what it was, because I looked it up...
). So, I'm guessing that this is the same one, because they are supposed to be pretty uncommon?
Jay saw it a couple of times driving back and forth, so I staked out the tree it was working on. No show anytime I was in the area.
I did get a good shot of Woody's handywork though! Amazing that he did this in the course of less than a week! They really are huge for a woodpecker, around the same size a crow, if not bigger!
So back to yesterday... Jay shouts, I run and grab my camera and go to try and shoot it through our bedroom window. But just my luck, the sun is setting directly behind where Woody is. This is where I get frustated and throw a temper tantrum because I still don't know all the settings on my camera.
Between the sun and Woody jumping and creeping around the tree trunks like a frikkin pteradactyl, I manage to get 4 shots total and only one was even decent, but I'll post all of them.
So I think I still need a lot of practice! lol
