: Good Chew Toy ?
: R. Sawh November 06, 2006, 01:34:10 PM
Does anyone know of a good strong chew toy, besides a kong?
My dog plays with his kong but doesn't usually chew on it unless I'm playing with him. He likes things that are really hard to chew on but something he can actually chew, ie. bones. I just feel bad that there aren't that many toys I've found that he can actually play with that he won't be able to break easily.

We have found with our guys their favorite chew toy is old levi's with the legs tied in knots.

They take quite a beating before they get all ripped up.

When all three are playing tug a war, they love that ripping sound.

the best toy i've found, zeros favorite toy ever, A Bad Cuz...

they are very durable. zero has not yet distroyed one, but i know a few other dogs that have torn the feet off... ours are still in one piece.  the only thing is, they ARE annoying. but they are really strong. bounce well (and in many directions) they come in a few colors and diff sizes... they have "Good cuz" which are the same, but light colors and no horns... but not as strong either... :)

There are some really sturdy dog toys on the market. Two that I really recommend at the 'hardcore fire hose' toy (it's made out of a real fire house so its really strong) and the paw tracks tire by mammoth toys (its made out of a real tire so it is also really strong).

Also, if he just likes to destroy things, I recommend using 2 liter plastic bottles with the lids and those plastic rings removed. As long as he doesnt try to eat the plastic it is a fine toy to chew up and they are free ;)

Thanks for the suggestions. I've tried the 2L bottles when Bagheera was younger. I've since had to move on to the 3L bottles and now I like Juice Bottles(like the oceanspray ones)...they tend to be really tough plastic.

Phelan enjoys the tire biter and the good cuz/bad cuz ( take the squeaker out), he also has a gallileo nylabone which he hasn't managed to damage at all, it's very tough and comes in wolf and super sizes.
