i think the son might be onto something, since he said she might have been trying to break up a fight.  i just don't see a dog you've raised attacking you for no reason, unless something seriously went wrong, or you tried to break up a fight and instead only distracted them onto you in the excitement.  either way, very sad.

Breaking up a dog fight is frought with all kinds of serious concequences/

Being someone that raises terriers, she should have known the best way,to deal with the situtation.

But it it goes to show when it is ours we lose our objectivity.an d just jump in.Not the wisest thing.

It would be very difficult to remain calm, for most people.
When I was raising dogs,(back when I did) there was always a bucket of water,or a hose avaiable, even in the house,so things get wet everything is washable.and dryable.

I feel bad for her though,a lot of trust has been destroyed.and will have to be re established.

whoa. that is scarey indeed. :( i think it's important that dog owners remember their furry family members are still animals with much instinct. i think situations such as those are always a possibility because you're dealing with an animal and the bigger the animal, the scarier the possible scenario.

i guess if that dog had prior aggression issues like the last article said they should have been dealt with maybe differently. sad though. :(

how are you going to put that dog to sleep when YOU got in the middle of the fight...  i wouldn't have blamed the dog, but myself for being so stupid.  if the dog had a history of attacking unprovoked, yeah i would have said ok, but come on.  every dog owner should know if you grab a fighting dog you stand a chance of getting hurt.
