A completely random thought here, but is there any way you could bring her in from another EU country on the passport, i.e. France?  I have no idea what the French requirements are but since you have an EU passport, you'd have a better shot than someone who didn't...

Oh, and the friend's Great Dane was young...under a year, if I remember correctly.

Alas, getting Day-z in to UK even from France is still the 6 month deal.

I would of course fly to Miami to make sure she was OK in the travel crate and fly on the same plane with her into UK.

Only way around it is to get her into the UK in a little boat - which would be a nightmare if we were discoverd.  Plus being in a little boat with her would be a bit of an experience too.

Will you be living there, now, forever?  Or will you only be there for a pre-determined period?

Then it would seem to just do the quarantine and visit as often as you can!  It will be a tough six months...but then you have her with you  forever!

I would either have your roomate take care of her or find a friend or family member to foster her if I could. I don't know what quarantine is like, but I imagine that it involves a lot of time spent in crates and is not a happy place for dogs.

Hi there,

well if Einstein's mum thinks it, it must be right :)

All family are in the UK.

So think it will be roomate looking after her.

Thanks
