Ummmm...just throwing this out there...I don't know how much of a help this is, but if they were somehow able to get to Indiana, I know someone who is looking for an IW and would probably take both of them.

But, like I said, that's REEEEEEEEEEALY far from California...

Shoot if anyone else is up for some road trip action I'll drive part way to go get a wolfhound or two!!! But I am in TN so I can't go all the way to Cali. ;)

What's the scoop? Is anyone going down there to see the dogs???

OH MY!!!  They're gorgeous!!!  It amazes (and ticks me off) why anyone would put them in a shelter.  I'm really wanting to live closer to CA right about now. lol  Hope they get out of there quick, good luck! :)

I checked on these guys through the place I get the Newfers' food...they do a lot of work in rescue.  Apparently, there is a hold on them by a rescue group.  The concern is that it is not a reputable group and not one recognized by the Irish Wolfhound group.  The people I talked to said that if there is a hold by a rescue group, an individual can't bail them out.  What's up with that?  Isn't it better to have them in a home than with rescue?

Anyway, they are going to call me if there hear anything more....

I am unfamiliar with the politics that seem to go on with rescues, but I don't know why keeping these two in pound is better than a temporary home. The least they can do is to put the individual willing to take them in touch with the rescue that placed them on hold. This way they can work together to ensure the dogs are receiving the best care as quickly as possible. The female is believed to be pregnant(from what another rescue had told me). Why in the world would they have them in a pound  ???

There is the tiniest bit of good news....it's the Camarillo Shelter and it is a no-kill shelter and for a shelter, it's a very good one.... :-\

Um...have you read any of the Gentle Giants threads?

There are, in point of fact, worse places than the pound.

If you don't know about GGR, I suggest you take a look at http://www.gentlegiantnews.com and find out what the wrong kind of rescue can lead to.

God, if I only had a yard...

I am aware of this rescue although have not had any personal experience with them. I do know there are enough red flags that I would not deal with them in any way.
Looks like they're about to add a couple more IW's to their collection.
The point I made would apply to that of an ideal world where everyone works for the animals well being.
