Road trip!!!

I might be making a road trip to Tupper Lake NY sometime in the next week.  Was thinking of going through Buffalo and Syracuse.  Anyone have any suggestions for things to see, places to go on my way.  It'll be just me and the pup, so no major detours cause I get lost WAY to easily!   :D
