Still Expecting -but a different pup now...

I got a call from the pup's breeder today. I didn't make it to the phone in time, so she left a message in which she explained she had something to tell me and that I should call her back. Uh-oh, was my first reaction. If she didn't want to leave it in a message, it must be something serious and more than likely bad... and it was  The puppy I had chosen (litter name "Odin") died yesterday.. Apparently, momma accidentally stepped on him. These things happen some times, and the breeder said I could either get my money back or choose another puppy. The only other male left is named "Thor" and incidentally, he was the other pup I would have chosen... even after I chose "odin," I kept going back to the litter pics and wondering if I should call back to change my mind on the puppy. Obviously I didn't, but as sad as I am about "odin," another part of me thinks this may be destiny, that it had to be this pup who comes home to me... and so now I am the expectant mother of "thor" (name to be changed...) the smooth-coat saint bernard... <3

Its always sad when a puppy loses their life    Good luck with the new little tyke!!!

Wow, that is so sad. Obviously I've had no experience with new puppies and their mommies - I didn't even know that was a thing to worry about!! I had no idea. Wow. Poor little Odin. As you said, though, maybe Thor was your intended baby, even though he comes your way by the passing of his brother. Maybe whatever you name him, his middle name could be Odin. Or am I the only one who gives pets middle names? (Poor Tani Louise! I went to fuss at her one day when she was a chewing obnoxious teenager, and my grandmother's name just popped out of my mouth!)

I am so sorry about little Odin.  It's so sad, but I hear that happens quite often in litters.    It must be hard for those mommy's to see where their feet are going.     I'm glad that you will still get Thor, though.

I am really sorry about Odin.  That is such a hard thing to accept.  At least you already had a second choice in the back of your mind.  Congratulation s on Thor.  Post lots of pics so we can enjoy him with you.

Awwww. That's too bad. But maybe you're right. About it being Destiny or something. I can't wait to see pics of the new baby.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. It really helps me not get depressed about the puppy that wasn't, and become excited and happy about the puppy that now is 
I'll post pictures when he comes home -in less than 4 weeks (yay!!)
