I love Saint Bernards and I have only had long haired. Do your guys shed as much as mine? I have to vaccum everyday. It's worth it though.

P.s They are beautiful!!

Thank you sooooo much, I love my boys! I have had Tuba for about15 months and he is the love of my life, he is my baby boy. We recently got Tank about a month ago. I had to beg my husband soo long for him. I wanted him really more for Tuba because I just had a new real baby in December and wasn't really able to spend as much time as I would like with him. He seemed sad so I thought a freind might cheer him up. Now they are best freinds, I think, they seem to love each other alot. Now Tuba has to share my heart with Tank, and my lap.

Right now Tank is pretty easy but Tuba noway. We used to get him groomed and I still do occasionally when my husband won't find the bill...haha. He gets soo mad the last time he had to pick Tuba up for me at the groomer he could not beleive the almost hundred dollar bill so he wouldn't let me take him anymore. It is alittle outragous but they do it soo much better than I can. Recently though I found this K-9 wash and go where you can do it yourself for like 20 bucks. I went in and checked it out but haven't taken him yet I'm waiting for the weather to warm up. Has anyone used one of them?

Collars, crates, & other cool things / Re: large collars
« on: March 07, 2007, 08:58:36 am »
I also feel your pain, my Tuba is 181 ponds and 16 months. My problem is also that Tuba breaks his collars, even the leather ones. When he gets free he can't wait to go pounce and pee in our neighbors yards then when I try to get him, forget it there is no way he will come to me. I have to get into the car and drive by him and pretend we are going bye bye to get him to come home. It is like an hour ordeal and not very fun. So an industrial strength collar is what I need, any ideas?

Thank you everyone for all your suggestions. I have tried the pinch collar and it did nothing because his fur is soo thick. I am using the gentle leader and the halti right now and they both work pretty good but not great. I do like one more than the other but if he wants to he will still walk me or more like drag me when he gets excited. Maybe I will try the harness it sounds like it may do the trick.

Meet & Greet BPOers / Re: Central New York
« on: March 07, 2007, 08:38:27 am »
I would be very interested in coming to the meeting, it sounds great. All of the dog parks around here are mostly little paws so Tuba doesn't have many big paw freinds. I can't wait.

Those are too funny. I have actually been through the one about getting pulled over. When the officer got too close to my window Tuba got right on my lap and in the officers face, then came his louder than life bark. I was trying to tell the guy he would never bite but I don't think he beleived me. He asked if I would put him in the back but it's not like I could just push him he weighs more than I do. It was pretty funny. I didn't get a ticket for speeding I think he was too scared to come back to the car.

Hi everyone my Saint Bernard is a monster and almost doubles me in weight. He drags me when we walk it is soo hard even with the Halti collars. If he sees a dog forget about it I don't stand a chance. I love walking him and showing him off but I am scared the whole time that when he sees sometihimg he wants it will be like the Beethoven movies and I will be on my face being dragged behind him. Any suggestions?

Thank you for the advice. Tank rarely gets too far with the dryer sheets, I have a four year old that can't wait to tattle on him if I miss it. On the breeding issue I was just thinking by breeding Tuba (Saint Bernard) I would be able to still have a part of him if god forbid anything ever happened to him. He is my life. I am very attached to him. He is my second Saint Bernard and it took me awhile to decide to finally get him. A few years back I had a Saint Bernard named Phoenix and he  died in the fire when my house burned down. It was aweful and really hard. Now Tuba is my whole heart and can't imagine life without him.  :'(

Hello, I am new to the boards and have a few questions for anyone that can help. I have a 15 month old male Saint Bernard and he is very docile, he never tries to be dominant over any of his freinds. We just got a Mastiff puppy and people are telling me they will have aggression issues if I don't get one or both fixed. Is this true even though my Saint lets the puppy have his way and be dominant or will his attitude change as the puppy gets older? I realy don't want to get either fixed because I may want to breed them in the future. Please help!
