Rottweiler Discussions / Pee...too excited
« on: August 14, 2006, 02:20:57 pm »
My rotti that is 18 months old has tendancies to pee when you talk to him, look at him, touch him.
We have been very good at trying to let him out before any of this happens but sometimes you can talk to him and put your hand on his head and squirt there he goes again.
When we get company, we have to make sure they talk to him outside or he squirts on their feet.
Does he have a week bladder, nervous bladder, what????
Can it be corrected?
It drives me nuts, you can't really play and get him all excited or squirt.  We do most of our playing in the yard so he can whiz all over, but watch the feet.
Even our Newfie has been whizzed on, when she could walk under him he would pee on her if he got excited.
HELP... ???

We were very lucky to have had them for that long.  Our kids loved them so much.  We have never had an empty house as far as dogs are concerned.  I don't know what we would do if we didn't have dogs.
I didn't have the barking and growling problems with our Rotts, we had the jump up and lick the person problems.  My hubby loved to get them to great him by getting them to jump up and kiss his face. They loved doing it and he loved it too.  But not such a good thing when you get company over and the dogs do it to them.  They knew not to do it to me, but they did try.  I didn't take them to any classes either, I wish that I could of but my kids were very small and the time factor was there, never enough of it.  I also was going to breed my female but no time so she never got to have puppies. :-\

Actually I prefer males.  He isn't bad for dominance. We had a purebred female, and she was the ruler of the house.  I am a rotti lover as well, but we wanted a change, and the newf has such a good rep.  Our dogs are babies though, wouldn't hurt a fly, maybe play with them till they die but not deliberately hurt them.  The fly that is...
Our first rotti (a male named Ripper) died at the ripe ole age of 13.  We had to put  him down, he had a stroke.  Our second rotti (a female named Tiamat, Tia) lived till she was 11.  She broke her front leg, she had bone cancer, never new it till she went to the vet to find out what was wrong with her leg, couldn't tell it was broke, she never complained, we had her put down as well. Then we got our big boy Tiny.  And after searching for a newf, we finally were lucky to have found Joy.    Wow, sorry to have went on and on here.  I have the girft of gab... ::)

I've have been using photoimpressio ns to cut and crop my photos, but haven't been playing with the pixels.  I just tried a pic with less pixels, is this better?

Are my pics too big?  We have XP, I will tell my hubby to install that program Brandon.  It sounds like it is very useful.

Newfoundland Discussions / Re: A Warm Welcome from all

Joy, our baby, was 9 weeks old when we went to pick her up.  She has never had an accident in her kennel.  She has had a few on the kitchen floor if we miss the sign she makes to tell us when she has to go.  I always take her out as soon as she gets up from any sleep.
She is now Five whole months old.  She has a lot to learn yet, as do I...

I am just curious what do you suggest we do with her in the middle of the night when she wants to get up to play.  She isn't needing to go to the bathroom, she just wants to play.  I know that she is a puppy, and they have naps, but at night she has to sleep longer than 4 hours.  Any help, different form what I have done, let me know.  Please don't bash my breeder anymore, I respect her and value any and all info. from her.  She lives 3 hours form where we live and all she has given is suggestions to try to help us with our FIRST newfie.  We have a lot to learn i realize, that is why I joined BPO so I would gain some knowledge from you BPOers. :-\

Lets clarify things here for you that think that I am mean and cruel to my newfie puppy. I have a garage that has been converted into a kennel facility.  There is airconditionin g  or heat whenever the temp changes. There are also dogs in there all the time.  My breeder suggested it so that my newf would know that play time is not in the middle of the night.  She is only out there for sleep purposes, the rest of the time she is right in the house beside or under my feet.  We would NEVER put her in the garage where it is too hot, we know that the breed does not like the heat.  Our Joy sleeps on the aircondioned register in the house, so we know that she gets hot.  She goes to the bathroom before she goes into the kennel fac. around 10-11 and she gets out of the kennel fac. around 6-7.  She has plenty of water there as well and has never soiled in her kennel at night.  She has not been lonely either.
I hope that this helps out the people that were concerned that I am mistreating my newfie, I am not.  I was hoping that the next time things aren't clear, when I post, that you wouldn't assume that my breeder and myself are mistreating my dog.  That is the last thing that I would do.
Before she went into the kennel fac. she had been in our room.
Anyways, hope this helps.

Hi .
I am a new retailer in the business of selling dog food.  I have ACANA dog food in my shop and they have a Salmon and Potato formula that I think might work for you.  Only not too sure it does have dried beet pulp(sugar removed) in it but it doesn't say how much.
Good luck finding the right food.

Hi everyone.  Two more new members here.  Brad and Dorothy Magnus from Luseland, Saskatchewan. Canada.  We have a 18 month old male Rottweiler named Tiny.  Our female Newfoundland, Joy, is 5 months old.  Quite the combo for dogs.
We have always had Rottweilers, the last two that we had lived till they were 11 and 13.  We are preparing Joy for her first show in October.
Nice to meet all of you.
 ;D
Note: The pic below is obviously old, this was taken not too long after we got Joy.
