East coast get together
« on: June 13, 2005, 12:03:46 pm »
Anyone else beside Jen and myself interested in getting together on the east coast?  We were talking about finding somewhere maybe on the Jersey shore.

Here's some links to dog parks in NJ:
http://www.doggeek.com/Dog%20Parks/New%20Jersey.shtml

Here's some in DE (there are 2 and they both sounds pretty nice):

And here's some in PA:

If anyone has any experiance with these or maybe a different one please let me know.  So who's up for a little meet and greet  :)

OMG I know Ramapo sooooooooooo good!  That is my old stomping ground.  It's really nice for the pooches, it's a camping ground.  You can't ever go off leash there, you will get fines there is a lake st teh top of the mouintain to take a dip in but you and your dog have to be in tip top shape to make the hike. It's not people freindly unless you are into fitness.

OMG I know Hobokon soooooooooo good!  That is also my old stomping ground! NOW that's a people and dog freindly place!  It sits directly across from Manahatan so you get amazing sky line views and a great breezes off the Hudson river meeting the Atlantic Ocean!  The streets are lined with out door cafe' and boutiques.  They usually have summer festivals with live music.  That could be just what the Vet ordered!

I also know Montclair and Goffel too but they are kinda lame usuall only locals hang out there.  Yes I am or was one off those locals and yes OMG THat is also my old stompin' ground!!  Get the feeling I been around?

I used to live in Philly on Spuce and 22nd.  There is a great dog park in that neighborhood.  If you go to the end off south street the first left there is a WAWA or something maybe it's 7-11 anyway on the side there is a path that leads to a big park, part of the park is fenced off for dogs.  You can also get there from going to the end of Spruce it dead ends at the park. Now this is about 20 years ago so you should check it out from someone in that area.

Hi guys!

We would love to join the get together if it works into our plans.  We have a house down at Long Beach Island and the pups maybe could all go for a swim in the bay.  They can't swim in the ocean after May 1st now but, they might love the bay.  Don't worry about the shark that was down in LBI last week in Surf City!  I also hear that there is a dog beach, park thing near Manasquan, NJ.  A friend of mine who has 3 Saints has mentioned it to me but, we haven't been there yet.  We live near Chester, NJ which is a very friendly dog town and they have a dog bakery place too.  I will keep an eye on the posts to see if we can all meet somewhere.

Rachel,

Yes, sorry dogs can't go in the ocean on Long Beach Island after May 1st.  I know many beaches in NJ don't even allow dogs at all.  Our pups get spoiled going from Oct 1st to May 1st.  They are afraid of the ocean, they just love to run on the beach.  Plus people are pigs and don't pick up after their dogs, so they wouldn't want that in combination with the sunbathers,

Let me know if you guys are planning a get together somewhere.

Hi guys, hope everyone had a great weekend.  I got a message that this topic has been marked sticky.  What does that mean?

From what I heard in an earlier post, it means that the topic will always stay at the top.  It won't be pushed to the bottom if I understand correctly.  I hope that helps  ;D
