This was forwarded to me.  I know greenies are very popular so thought I'd pass it on.

Not having greenies in this country, am I correct in thinking they are made the same way as dried dog food and these things are expanding in the gut when they come into contact with liquid?

If so, I presume this is a problem for our small pawed brethren. Even so, it makes you wonder about pet food companies putting profits before pets lives.

Nostaw, greenies have a paraffin base so that once they get inside a nice warm environment, they melt.  Where the problem comes in is if they aren't well chewed then there is a great huge blob of warm wax that has a tendencey to cover things like intestines, stomach openings, esphogus, etc. and cause huge problems; even death, in dogs.  Not good at all.  When I've spoken to pet stores that sell these nasty things, their advice is to make sure your dog chews them well.  That's just a commmand that I can't seem to master with the Newfs, "CHEW"!!!  ;D

We just avoid them and try to educate pet store owners to at the very least, make them feel guilty about selling the #$%^ things!
