What is the largest of dog breeds? I have read the Irishwolfhound is the tallest, which is the biggest?
Is it the St Bernard or the Mastiff or Great Dane?
-
mastiff is the heaviest, the wolfhound is the tallest....the heaviest mastiff was 340pounds....t he tallest wolfhound was over 7 feet tall.
-
we get our food from the same place as the woman who owns Captain Morgan hes 290lbs lol, so yeah English Mastiffs have the largest body mass and Irish wolfhounds are the tallest
-
I believe that the largest 340 pound mastiff was a female named zola
-
Zorba was the largest Mastiff and he was FAT. He could have lost a lot of weight. If you google Zorba/Mastiff you will pictures of Zorba and his roided out owner.
-
lol.... ;D sorry... i knew that i was close in the name. i didn't think he was fat..but if so...then no wonder he weighed somuch!!!!
-
i jsut saw pictures of him...he is 3 meters tall....he isn't fat at all... you can see him all stretched out!
-
You are correct. I had names confused. Hercules is one that is often sighted as largest and he was very obese.
-
Amy's dad, Clifford is over 7 feet tall
-
WOW that is so sad,Hercules is way to fat...i guess he was trying to make his dog big and massive but hes just to fat.

I actually just wrote an article about the largest and the smallest dogs (Gibson was mentioned) as well as this tiny Chi named Heaven Sent Brandy. In researching the article I found this really interesting NPR story about scientists singling out a "master regulator" gene that controls the size of dogs- here is a link to the piece if anyone actually wants to read it - http://www.dogguide.net/blog/2008/01/the-tallest-and-the-smallest/
