Boo is one this week
« on: June 27, 2006, 09:39:05 am »
This thursday she turns one.   :)  She got weighed on friday and is up to 120lbs.  Yup, she now weighs more than I do!  Anyone have a recipe for a good dog birthday cake?

She is a big, beautiful girl!  Happy birthday, Boo!!!

I have a recipe for Liver Treats which can bake up like a cake.  Not sure what you'd spread on it for a topping.

1 lb liver, raw, pureed in a food processor
2 boxes Jiffy corn muffin mix
1 egg
1 Tbsp garlic powder

Mix all ingredients together and spread in 2 greased 9x13" pans or one cookie sheet with an edge.  It will come out about 1" deep when cooked but you want it that thin or it won't cook the liver through.  Bake at 350 degrees until no longer red in the center and lightly brown on the edges.  Freezes well.  I cut it into cubes and freeze in handy sized packets.

I have 2 recipes for frosting if you want to try them.

6 ounces fruit baby food
2 tablespoons smooth peanut butter
1/3 cup plain yogurt
1/4 cup wheat germ
1 tablespoon beef bouillon granules

1. place baby food fruit (any flavor) and peanut butter in small bowl -- blend well.
2. add remaining ingredients and mix well.
3. use as a frosting or a dip for dog treats.
4. spread on the dog treat immediately before serving --
5. store frosting in the refrigerator.

* 1/2 stick of butter
* 1/4 c dry cat or dog food
* 1/2 c sugar
* 1-2 T milk or water
* 1 T flour if needed for thickening

Put everything in a food processor and mix well until desired thickness. Spread on pet's favorite cake or cookies. This is for occassion treating only. Store in airtight container in refrigerator.
