He just made it to TX today - and he's done wonderfully so far.  No problems eating or drinking, already pottied and checked out the cats,  As you can see, he and Ursa hit it off immediately!

I had a foster once who had a serious case of "happy tail" just like your baby.  Like MstiffOverload said, we put ointment on it, then gauze, then cotton padding and taped all of that into place (have to put a little tape on the fur or the whole deal will fly off everytime he wags).  Then we would wrap the tail a little over 3/4's of the way up with vet wrap and tape the vet wrap into place in a random spot or two.  We did this twice a day for two or three weeks.

My vet highly recommended amputation but we felt that would decrease his chances for adoption (he was a very large black dog so he wasn't number one on the adoption list to start with).

Good luck - happy tail is one of those injuries that's a real challenge to heal up.

Ursa says she still thinks he's a handsome guy - even with sleep lines on his face!   ;D

My girl would love that!  She played in the rain for hours yesterday!

Ursa has a friend staying over for a few days and he has to be the darkest Pyr I've ever seen.  We took pics of him next to Ursa so you could compare the two.  Have you ever seen one this sandy?  Please ignore the fact that they were playing in the rain!!!

A friend with a sense of humor THAT good is a true friend indeed!

Courtesy of Ike, it's raining here in North Texas - not pouring down thank goodness - and Ursa is loving it!  I've had plenty of dogs in my life but she's the first one that would willingly leave the covered porch in the rain.  She's out back right now just playing in the yard and happy as a lark.

Does anyone else have a water dog disguised as a Pyrenees?

Great Pyrenees Discussions / How much food for a puppy?
« on: September 11, 2008, 03:07:47 pm »
Ursa is now 4.5 months old, 21 inches tall and weighs 35 pounds.  To be honest, she looks chubby to me.  She's not a very active puppy.  She gets two walks every day that add up to a total of 30-45 minutes.  She's more active on the weekends when we're home all day but still pretty much a couch potato.  Any rough guidelines on how much food she should be eating per day?
