: silent comands

This is more off a boasting session than a topic but.....
for the last few weeks I've been trying to stealth train Arkyd
and i'm happy to say that he knows all his vocal commands by hand signal now
next i have to find some missions to test his skills lol

hahahha! the Kyd is a newf on a mission, huh? that's great! I taught my Am. Bully X hand signals. I found that he actually responded MUCH better to them than the voice commands. I guess its cuz they are consistent. No difference in tone or anything like there is with voice commands.

YAY ARKYD! The Stealth Newf! hahahaha!

yeah the kid seems to pay more attention to hand signals also
maybe the sound of our voices irritates them it wouldn't suprise me

axle learned hand signals, too, after that he learned whistle commands for in the yard, but now we're out of ideas  :-\

Ellie and Blu know hand signals for sit, down, stay and wait and they respond to them really well... I read somewhere in one of my gazillion dog books that dogs are geared more towards visual than audio. I wish I could be more specific or even remeber the book, but the mind isn't what it used to be....lol  :)

P.s.  Yayyyyyyyy Arkyd - awesome job!

Good job!!!

Lady and Grace both know hand language too.  It'll come in handy if they ever loose their hearing.
