last night we treated our dog for fleas with Bio spot...all were fine...today when I came home for lunch...Duke won't
get off of the bed....not for a walk...not for food...nothing ....(these are his favorite things)  He ALWAYS
meets us at the door  real excited......n ot today....he went out to the porch for awhile because I had my son check
on him....when I got home ..he is back on the bed....won't
get up....he is giving me kisses so he is aware.....
Could the Bio spot have caused this??? a reaction?

YES! Biospot almost killed my neighbor's cat! There was a recall on it! Do a google search!

She used Biospot for cats. And now that I'm looking, I'm not finding any recall info.

But, I would still be suspect of it. Just me. After having my friend go through that, I hate the stuff! haha!

I would call you vet right away! Also in the mean time give Duke a bath in sunlight dish detergent or Dawn... or the same soap they use for oil spills. I gave my cat a flea treatment a few yrs ago and she had a HORRIBLE reactions screaming in pain. I felt so bad and helpless call the emerg and that is what they told me to do. But that was only 15 min after the treatment. She was fine after the bath.

Edit- because I can't type :P

I called the vet and he said that it could be a reaction...if there wasn't any shaking or anything that I shouldn't need to take him over....he said the bath probably
wouldn't help since I put it on last night.
thanks for so many replies....I'm freaking out here....

him tonight and if hes no better in the morning take
him to the vet.  the vet didn't really tell me anything

reaction..no more of that stuff! that was so scary!
thanks to all of you for  "being there" for me. This is
a great place!!!!!thanks again

I'm so glad that he's doing better!  Cara, our first Pyr, had a bad reaction to a flea/biting fly spray with pyrethrins in it years ago, so we never used or allowed groomer's to use any flea product on her again that contained pyrethrins.  In fact, we avoid them like the plague with all of our pets now.  I'm just really leary of all these chemicals that humans & pets are exposed to now.  We're fortunate that we don't have a problem here with ticks or heartworm, but fleas pop up (ha!) occasionally, so we have to deal with them sometimes but w/o pyrethrins.  Do you know what the active ingredient is in Biospot, just out of curiousity and so that you can avoid them with him again?  Also, you might want to add a cup or two of water to his food for the next few days to help his body flush out the toxins (and b/c he may not have drunk enough while he was feeling so lousy).  I've done that with my pups when they haven't felt well & it seems to help perk them back up sooner.  I kind of think of it like encouraging your children to drink lots of water & juice when they're sick.  ;)  Again, I'm very glad that he's doing better!
