Deaf Pyr Needs a Home
« on: November 18, 2005, 02:09:05 pm »
This poor guy is at a humane society near me. I would take him, but they won't let me since I have a two year old. Can anyone please help him? Send me a pm if you are interested. Thanks a bunch!

Jake was removed from a bad situation in Pipestone, Minnesota. Jake is deaf, so he will need an owner with extra patience to teach him hand signals etc. He would do best with older kids who understand that he is deaf and can be easily startled. He will need a little extra TLC and attention to housetraining and socialization. Jake is very sweet and he is patiently waiting for his forever family. He is friendly, but shy around strangers and he has lived with other dogs. He is 2 years old.

They also have a 6 yeard old female pyr named Zena. She was removed from the same situation.

Aww what a cutie!   You should ask them to list him on the Deaf dogs adoption pages!

http://www.deafdogs.org/adoption/

Now do they know this dog startles or are they just saying that because its a common deaf dog myth?  My deafies were all raised with kids & babies.  Tenchi and Zephyr were just about as bombproof as you can get, but Kida is a spook.  However that's because she was never socialised or saw the outside world until she was 6 months old.  She's gotten a lot better though with training.  :)

Good luck and I hope someone gives him a great forever home!  :D
