that sucks!!! ok i used to live in LA, i only had my australian shephard then, and my ex boy friend (he sucks!!!) had a 70lb lab/pit mix,  we drove cross country to west virginia, (my parents live there and i  was moving back) in new mexico the transmission blew in his car!!!!! so we had to find a hotel that would take us and our dogs! (microtel in, they are very cheap and pet friendly)

i had to have my dad drive all the way from wv to new mexico to pick us up, and it was like a 38 hour long drive in total, with 2 dogs and all of our stuff cramed in to a van

almost forgot, do not pull him back, it turns in to a game for the dog, just stand, eventually he will learn that tension on the lead means he is supose to turn around and come back, as soon as he turns around start to walk again,

at first when i was teaching rota, it took me 15 minutes just to get to the end of the block to due to all the times i had to stop and just stand there untill he stoped pulling, but now we can go 2 blocks in 15 minutes!! he no longer pulls!!

when he pulls YOU DO NOT MOVE, you dont walk forward, your dog needs your permission to move, he cant make the decisions, i have just taught my newfie not to pull and now hes amazing,

you want the dog to stay at your side no matter what, so as long as hes not walking on a short leash then you stand inplace, you do not move eventually after a while he will turn around and come back to you, when he dose, resume your walk if he rushes ahead again, STOP, like i said he hes pulling no one is to move, it will take a few weeks but after a while he will be walking with a loose leash at your side,

=)

well i wasnt sure that there was a name for my dogs markings, i mean i knew he wasnt the "ideal" newf, but i showed a pic of him to a breeder and she got all snooty and said "he is what they might call an irish spotted, a mismarked newfoundland" .... poor rota, she called him mismarked... i liked his markings, she said thats what happesn when people buy dogs on impulse blah blah blah.. im kinda mad

my rotas no mutt...

male and female should get along fine, infact a male would prolly be the best thing (make sure to have them fixed if you dont want puppies) because from all that ive read about dog agression (i have a few issues with one of my dogs that is deff. getting better) 2 females fight, that the female has a tendancey to be more dominant and that 2 females have more "squables" than 2 males or a male and a female so if i were you id get a boy

yeah when i got my newfoundland the breeder told me he wasnt eating much and that his vet (her vet) said that it was due to the heat,

ehh but when he got here though he ate like a horse and he looks fat (though you can FEEL his ribs) so i dont know what she was talking about.....

 :)

wow if she is having accidents like that she may be sick, i mean SOME TIMES dogs just forget.. and need retraining, it happens, and then there is submissive urnitanion, which ive actually seen my aussie do ONCE in his 3 years of life, it was very recent, when he met the do trainer (who is currently training my newfie)

but i mean usualy if there is a sudden change like that it could be strees or a UTI, the vet visit is the best thing
