What a bunch of cuties!!!
When Tisha had 2 pups years ago, she HATED them, I had to force her to lay still top feed them. I broke out the playpen and it was WONDERFUL!. I placed blankets in one end and a thick layer of newspaper in the other. They papertrained themselves. they would wake up and go to the paper. then when they were a bit bigger they started following the big dogs outside. Both new parents called me withing the first day in SHOCK that these 6 week old pups were already housetrained. :)

Ok...so I have been sick for over a week with some sort of "bug' (kids and hubby are ill too). My body aches, nose is stuffy, sore throat, and now chest congestion. So last night i was freezing and I put on a new zipper hoodie to keep warm. Well I have sensitive skin and I didn't wash the damn thing first. I woke up with HIVES!!! My neck and arms (anything my t-shirt wasn't covering) and even my shoulders (I guess since the fabric is tighter to your skin), my left eye is almost swollen shut, and I am nauseaus. I took a shower and then some benadryl. BLECK! This has happened a several times in my life...bubble bath, new black clothes, and the last time it was Aussie shampoo. My eyes were swollen shut and My face was all puffy. This SUCKS!!! WHAAAAAAA!

When my son was 3 my dane Thorn bit him pretty bad on the arm (no blood, but bruises and his skin was indented where the canine teeth were). I was furious and ready to kill him with my own 2 hands. I took brennon in the house, and he told me Thorn had a bone and he tried to take it and Thorn growled... and he hit him for growling....I let him go in the yard with the dog out there while I was in the kitchen cooking... I shoudl have been out there or kept him in the house, I couldn't blame Thorn for biting, and it was obviously a warning bite, or it would have been worse.
Kids in that age bracket don't understand that pulling on a sleeping dog is dangerous nor do they understand that a growl means back off. I would bet that he was warned and taht he continued to do whatever it was that the dog didn't like. Give yourself time to settle down, and only let the 2 of them together if you are there with them. See how he acts around your son whe you are there. He may have been startled or just pushed to far.

My MIL is coming for Christmas. She doesn't have a petsitter, so she asked if she could bring her dogs along. The 3 big boys will use the kennel, and her JRT will be in the house. Sooo That means I will be having a6 month old Newfie, a Golden, and Mr Beau (the saint mix) staying here a few days. :) i'll make sure to get pics of Beau this time.

General Board for Big Dogs with Big Paws / snow!!! How do you do it!!!
« on: December 04, 2007, 07:10:37 pm »
OK, we got like 5 inches of snow over night (and still falling). I took the dogs out to see what they would do (Morgayne and Gracies first time to see snow). They all had a BLAST!!! They ran and played and wrestled.  Morgayne was even laying in it and rolling on her back. They stayed out about an hour, and when we went to come inside, the wiped the danes off no big deal (I am use to that having had danes for 11 years) but then came Morgayne.... the snow was stuck everywhere!!! her paws had golfball sized snowballs in them! it took 20 min. just to get the clumps off so she could go in by the fire and dry out. How in the heck do those of you with Newfies, saints, etc do it?? LMAO
