Hi Everyone-
Thank you again for your help and advice regarding Jimbo & Fergie. I contact the Mastiff rescue and they would not accept him because he is not a purebred Mastiff. Looking at his picture they told me he is a Great Dane. Would you say he is a Dane a Mastiff or a mix? The shelter listed him as a Mastiff. I know it's hard to tell now as he is underweight and his ear flaps are missing. What do you think?
-
He looks mixed, but the ears throw me off a bit.
He is gorgeous nonetheless!
-
My gosh he's a cutie. I would go with mix but not really sure.
-
The ears throw me off a bit too. He's handsome though. Maybe he's a Mastiff/Dane mix? I've seen a few that look similar to him.
-
He is a very Handsome Fella. :-* I'm certainly no expert what so ever on Danes or Mastiffs, but that's kind'a what he looks like to me. A mix of the two.
Also not familiar with Dane or Mastiff Breed Rescues but with Pyrs there are some fantastic Pyr Rescue groups who take in, Foster, and place, Pyr Xs and even some non-pyr too.
He really is a pretty boy. And you're a very special person!

Possibly a Dane x Presa?
-
b/c of how they did the ears, I'm wondering if maybe he's a preso or corso mix as they crop them short like that.
I could see either dane or mastiff in there though.

Look familiar?

I would really wonder if he is a PB Presa, maybe contact a Presa rescue.

Looks like a Presa to me
-
I was thinking Presa mix because he looks "long" in the picture but it could be the angle :-\
-
It also has to do with his breeding, he look PB to me, he just isnt as muscley as the one in the pic, that could account for the length perhaps?
-
No, he is definitely long and gangly, which is why I wasn't sure about the Presa and thought more Dane, because he's all leg. I was thinking of contacting a Dane rescue as well but will also try the other rescue that was listed for the Presa. He may end up being muscly once we get him back to full weight/health. He had a lot of muscle atrophy from being in the shelter for 2 months and we're finally able to take a 30 minute walk without him stumbling over his feet.
Thanks again for the help!

Maybe the photo is not showing just how long he is but Presas are to be 20% longer then they are tall. I think many here we see are more square then they should be.
In the photo he looks no longer in body to me then this dog

How tall is this guy?

His head hits my hips and I'm 5'2". If he were to stand on his back paws, he would be almost 6'
