I saw two brindle fila puppies at petsmart yesterday. My boyfriend pointed them out and I recognized their look from seeing pictures of Tigre. I said to the lady, "Oh, are those filas?" and she stopped dead in her tracks, turned to me and said "YES! HOW DID YOU KNOW THAT???" !! It was pretty funny! Apparently she had never met anyone who knew filas at all! They were pretty, probably 4 months old, but they wouldn't let me touch them! Thay looked like they might bite me too!! I thought, wow, I hope she gets those babies socialized before they weigh 200 pounds!!! But anyway it was neat to see some in person!

Wow, I can't get over how much Tigre looks like Gunther as a pup. Of course, all brindles to me look like Gunther, but they even have similar looking collars!!

Sometimes I like to imagine that Nigel is a Fila Brasileiro. I have read that the breed descends from mastiff and bloodhound crossing.
Well, Nigel also descends from the crossing of bloodhound and mastiff... not on purpose though...
so...
he's my pretend Fila!
(Just not as big!)

socialize him to the max,,,,,,,,,,,
thats what we did
fila are a great breed, but are super protective and do not like strangers or dogs they do not know
tigre is raised with rhodesian ridgebacks
once in a while some growling goes on
time to seperate until they calm down
it does work
pur fila will be 4 years old and has not bitten any one or hurt our other dogs
but i keep a close watch on them

I LOVE this breed. Not that we are ready for another but when it's time I would love to have a Fila.
