I posted a while back about a female Newf in our neighborhood who was 'done wrong' by a wandering Bernese Mountain dog.  THE PUPPIES ARE HERE!!! (well, not HERE, here but at the neighbor's house...lol!)

I spoke to the Newf's owner this morning and there are six little black balls of fluff with white paws;  no sign of the father's brown markings.  I can't wait to go see them, but think I should wait until they get their first shots (at a month??).  I WILL resist!!!  and besides, hopefully they are all spoken for!  I'll post pictures when we get the okay to visit!!

Absolutely no fair- you have to get pics- and post soon, I bet that they are so cute- And while you are getting the pics- you must decide which one is yours!!

HELP me resist???  Are you kidding??  I've been on this board for a few months (or more  ;)) and all I've seen is urging one and all on to a new pupperino!!  Oh, I don't think I trust ya'll one little tiny bit!  ;D ;D

But I will go take pictures ASAP!!! ;)

i hate hearing of this, why is it that people let their girls unattended when they are in heat?
i have had intact females for years now  and never once had an accidant, with my male or otherwise.
how sad.

Well, I suppose accidents happen, but I think those puppies will be wonderful little "accidents". I suppose that makes me "bad", but what a nice combination of personality... I can't wait to see pics!!!

I can't wait to see pics of the little cuties!  While you are there, if they aren't all spoken for, could you pick me out a cute little male?  Then if it's not too much trouble could you keep him at your place until he's housebroken and through the puppy teens?  I think it might take a while to set up transport from CA to TX.   ;D

You know what:  Accidents happen.  They happen to humans, dogs and all sorts of other creatures.

OK that said We need photos!!  I hope all the pups find loving, wonderful homes!!

I do agree that they should have been more careful with her.  The people are both smart, educated (both are M.D.'s!!) but as my father used to say, "Common sense is anything but!!"  It was a stupid mistake.

They had the intention of taking her to be bred the next day
and had no idea that a male could get to her.  The were going to abort but decided that the puppies could be really wonderful dogs so...here they are.  Hopefully they will spay her now since they've had their adventure!  I still am anxious to see the puppies after they have had their first round of shots!!  (and if I didn't already have two Newfs, I swear, I'd smuggle one out!!)

Bwahahah!!! That way if he caves, it is his fault.  You're good!!!!!!!!!  I can never count on DH to say no.  He's worse than I am about having a bazillion dogs!  He was asking today already if we need another  :o

My hubby's definetaly the stronger one , but I've got him trapped ! I am charging him $10 for every swear word he lets slip at home ( he's a trucker so you can imagine ....) and I'm up to $220 and we just started less than a week ago . All money is of course going into a puppy fund ! LMAO  ;D

Rolling eyes is ok, but, i will never support the common sense that is so lacking and so relaxed in todays society, they may be cute, but, if people keep doing this, and the pups keep being scooped up, (what else can you do but?)
than they will never learn their lesson, so many continue to be careless and lax in their decisions.
I still cannot believe that people do not educate themselves on the female system of a dog.
The Book of the Bitch is a book every female dog owner should read, front to back and educate themselves on the days they are fertile, not to mention keeping trac of the times they come in heat, and counting days.
it is so sad.
sorry to put a damper on this subject, but, i for one do not rejoice.
I do not mean offense, i know it will be taken, but, i see so much of this and i also get calls for help with people who have no clue, it gets old, but, we keep helping and sharing.
if out of this one person can be educated it is worth it.

Hey Sar,
 To explain myself:

 I completely agree that there is no reason to be irresponsible. Take it from a woman that has worked at the Humane Society and personally euthanized dogs. I have no sympathy for people that are careless and get wrapped up in the cuteness. I try and take every opportunity to educate people and explain dog fertility. Sometimes, people think that I'm a major female dog because of my attitude about it.
 My eyeroll comes from the fact that Mari had already explained what happened. I mean...I guess its a situation like this. I was 15 when I had my daughter. She was not planned. I didn't really quite understand my own fertility. But, if you would have walked up and gotten preachy when everyone was oohing and ahhing about how cute she was, I would have rolled my eyes...at least.
 Sometimes, good people make mistakes. Sometimes, good people make bad decisions. Its not the fault of the puppies or the babies that these things happen. I just wanted to keep this thread true to the spirit in which it was intended.
 Getting preachy doesn't help anyone...espec ially considering that the owner of this dog isn't even a BPO member. It just serves to bring down the maternal oohs and aaahs of the BPO members that think puppies are cute. And puppies are CUTE! No matter if they were planned or not.
 So, whaddya say, Sar? Let's ooh and ahh over cute puppies, huh? Even if their owner wasn't the most responsible, and there are too many puppies in this world, and S**T happens? Could we do that? The puppies are here, the people made their decisions...le ts just sit on this message board and say, "OOOH! PUPPIES ARE CUTE!! I LOVE PUPPIES!"
 Whaddya say?

TIS THE time of the year wich is not good, when i handle tonns of calls it gets to ya.
maybe you guys cant see it the way i do, who has to help clean up the mess
and, hopefully you see i was trying to be helpful, there are plenty of lurkers that may just have t hat unspayed girl and have no idea how the heat cycle works,
the book of the bitch is fabulous for education, and, i felt the need to educate, like it or not, i hope i did it in a good way, of course i know the poster already said the way it happened halfway down the first page. that is cool
but, education is a wonderful thing, and, maybe someone here will educate themselves in the right way.

You guys are the best....Sar, for continually educating all of use and doing it as kindly as you can, even though your jaw must ache from all the clenching when you read what people do...intention ally or accidentally.  Nicole, for understanding what I was trying to say:  puppies are wonderful whether they were planned or not.  It is not their fault in ANY way that they are here. And Tina, for reminding us of the bigger picture.  It is truly the season to be thankful for all of our blessings. 

And I am....for BPO in general and you guys in particular!!! :-* :-* :-*

I can't WAIT to go see them, but I really think I should wait until they have their first shots.  I took Cowboy in for his check-up to be re-certified for Therapy Dogs International and there were puppies in the vets office with parvo. :(

I would just feel awful if anything happened to them!

I PROMISE, P R O M I S E  to go as soon as it's safe for them  to be with outsiders!!!

Definitely be safe!  Yikes!  Just the thought of parvo gives me the shudders!

Mmmmmm, puppy breath.  ;) I agree that it may not be the right kind of cure UNLESS you end up bringing one home!  BUt just think how much of a service you're doing us all by "taking one for the team" to get those pictures!!  :D

Thanks Blusky!!  That's what I'm here for!  I'm totally willing to put my life on the line for BPO to get puppy pics!! AND at the risk of bringing home another puppy!

How's that for sacrifice!!??
