Just an update on my situation. AKC has accepted "Rockman's Unsinkable Molly" for her registered name. Rockman has been my husband's nick name since Jr High, and our Saint Bernard's name was "Rockman's Forever Roswell".

We did the whole Marin thing with Drake and dubbed him CH. Bacchanal's Sir Anakin Drake.  Nothing too fancy, but tell me, what's with the little expository quips in some dogs names.  You know like Jackson's "Goodbye to Meadowhaven in the Mist" Georgina or Jojo "Hey I'm Pooping!" Lafountaine or Karrie "Strutting down Rodeo" Campbell? I'm not trying to clown on anybody for doing that but what is that all about?  How did that get started?  Is it dog pretentiousnes s or is it an inside joke or nostalgia of sorts?  It seems to be really prevelant within the high end show dog circles.  Hey a name is a name and we're entitled to call our dogs whatever we want, but I'm just curious how that got started.  I met a woman the other day who had a beautiful German Shepard and when I asked what his name was she actually gave me his AKC name which was some long forgettable name.  I asked her, "Do you say that every time you call him?"  She didn't think that was very funny......

Well, we liked the name Sasha so we wanted her AKC name to have be related to that.  Sasha is a Russian or German nickname for Alexandra or Alexander.  So, that's where it came from.  (My friends from Germany always give us a hard time though--in German it is a boys name!  In Russian it is either a boys or a girls name.)

I know I should have but I never bothered to send in papers on any of my dogs.  Couldn't really decide on names to use officially.

Unofficially, my min pin is Little Tigger Lily (yes, Tigger not Tiger) and has numerous nicknames.  People think it's so sweet that I call her my little Poo.  They have no idea this is a nice way of calling her Turd cuz she can be such a pain in the backside!

My pug was named before we got him and we kept it - Mr. Cheeks.

My Doberman is Klaus.  The best my hubby could come up with for AKC was Klaus vonBeaverstein (not!).  Or we could have used his Roman gladiator name Klausus Maximus.
