Just bought my tree down from forest, so I'm in the right Christmas mode just now. Maybe you would like a bit peek into my house to get into the the old fashioned Chrismas mode?
A bit of romantic, old fashioned fun!

Are the wood ceilings original or did you add them? After seeing similar ones in Italy, I want them really bad but I get the idea they'd be really hard to put into a house after it was built, since they are so heavy.
Noo, I didn't added them, they are part of house construction, 11X11 inches, 12 metres long.
My house is end of 17th century, and I doubt anybody would be able to offer such size oak beams these days. They are original, about 300 years old.
Also the arches were build alon with house, and it took me 9 months to renovate the brick floor, but at least I can say proudly that 90 % of bricks are made no later than 19 century.
Walls of the house is nearly 3 ft, solid brickwork, and some of the granit foundation stones weight few thousands of kilgrams.
It is a quite old house, and all the things there, older or newer, are original products of the time. We just use them different like I use sledge as a reading seat during the summer, and now I stacked there our Christmas tree. :D

Your house looks fantastic. Do you guys think you could swing by Chicago and pick me up on your way? I wanna go too.

its not impossible to cheat. All you need is to make wooden boxes of the lenght of the room (they will be not heavy at all), screw them to the ceiling and here you are! They will look right.
Get 3 boards for each beam, and some 2X2 inches pieces of wood for inside to held the box together, and that's all. It can be done.

Count me in on the commercial flight! We'll start in FL and go across and up the country. I'll make sure to pack hot cocoa!

Absolutely stunning!! It is just as beautiful inside those windows as it is outside.

Well, as long as we're starting in Florida, swing by Louisiana and pick me up. It looks like the idyllic place to celebrate the holidays. Your place looks perfect! Where are you, exactly?
