The herald always has these polls online. This poll was not to actually pass a law, but to see how many people were in favor of what was happening in Ontario and if they thought it should happen here. The debate was sparked due to the vigil for the pitbulls that happened here on Sunday night. We got a fair amount of press coverage for the vigil, so it was a hot topic to discuss here in Nova Scotia. As of now, there is NO banning of pitbulls here in Nova Scotia with the exception of Guysbourough County. As of now, there is NO talk about even implementing a law to pass a ban here, thank God. Instead we have a dangerous dog legislation that has been passed that is entirely more effective than any ban could ever hope to be. Sure, the dangerous dog act should be a bit better, but baby steps first. Luckily here in Halifax there are people who have banned together and have been very active in encouraging our government to implement better laws around ownership instead of banning. Luckily this has been keeping any talk of really having a ban come here. Pitbulls and other bully breeds are very popular here in Nova Scotia, and we rarely have any incedents with the breeds here, and when we do it is usually pretty cut and dry over the irresponsible ownership of the dog. So rest assured, you can safley bring your pit to Nova Scotia!!
