Good vet in Massachusetts
« on: August 01, 2006, 07:54:35 am »
Hi all,
I've had two not-so-good experiences with our local vet, and have decided to shop around. Any recommendation s for a good, available, and committed vet who knows big dogs near Concord, MA? I appreciate any thoughts you may have.

Thanks!
Jennifer

Hi Jennifer,

I also live in MA live south-east of you. I liked my old vet, which was a VCA, but I am not having good luck in my new town either. But if you ever need something major done or have an emergency, I highly recommend Tufts in Grafton. Their animal hospital is one of the best in the country and they are open 24hrs a day for emergencies, so it is really important to know about.

Good luck :)

Hi Jennifer,

We are from Lowell and we take Winslow to this office

Mc Grath Animal Hospital
(978) 667-2194
31 Lexington Rd
Billerica, MA 01821

The owning partner breeds and shows Mastiffs so they are very Big dog friendly and knowledgeable!! I recomend them and I don't think they are to far from you.

I have an excellent vet for my son who is a Great Dane Saint Bernard Mix. Her name is Dr. Jennifer Ben-Oz, DVM. She is a REALLY TERRIFIC vet and she is REALLY GREAT with BIG AND GENTLE GIANTS. She is the FIRST vet that I have really and truly been happy with. And I highly recommend her. She is located in the Wholepet Health Center, 251 Chelsea Street, Everett, MA 02149. Her phone # is (617) 394-0471. If you go there, make sure you see only her. They have some other Drs. there, but she is the only one that I like. She REALLY CARES about her patients. And that is something you don't see too much of today.

Hi Rich,
Funny you should ask... I just called to make an appointment!  If their phone service is any indication (Maryann is very helpful!), I think you've made a fantastic recommendation . :)  Thanks so much.  I'm taking Bear in to get their opinion about his constant ear infections.  I'll let you know how it goes.  Again, thanks so much for the info! :)

Hi Rich,
Thanks for asking.  We had our visit this evening and it went VERY well.  We saw Dr. Bruce and I was very pleased with our communication, how she handled Bear, and the treatment plan she proposed.  I'll go back in 10 days for a re-check and I'll see if I have the same feeling/experience. Thanks so much for the referral.  How's Winslow doing after the snip?

Hi Jenn,

I was at McGrath yesterday, yup a vet open on Sunday to get Winslow's boosters. I mentioned that I sent you over and Dr Bruce asked how the dogs ears were doing!! So I am asking.
