It was such a nice day today for taking pictures, picking up dog poop that is now exposed due to some melting, and working on the houses for the kids! Beauty will be expecting her pups Early May! Spring fever is hitting us! I cannot wait for summer, this year I am having Aidan and Cali worked by the kids in 4h, obedience and agility. We are going to fence part of the property, a small area to start and put out about 10 head of sheep to work with the dogs. If that goes well, we will expand. Exciting things planned for this summer! Shana :D

No Kidding! I live 17 miles north of Bemidji! A little bitty town called tenstrike! all of 138 people, 2 bars, a mechanic, lumber yard, and post office! I am about 5 1/2 hours from you I think! Beauty was in a dog show a few years ago in St Paul at the excelsior center I think it was called. We have 160 acres we live on, it belonged to my husbands grandpa. We took care of him for ten years here on his farm until he died a few years ago, now we are workingo n buying part of it. I never realized what a BIG process it was and time consuming, but we are almost done! That is the reason we have not put money into fencing and livestock. When it is finally in our name, we will begin so our babies can work like they were bred to do! I did not enjoy the show ring much at all, but do love a working dog!

Beauty is well named! I love the avatar pic of her and the one with Shadow in particular. Thanks for sharing! I wish you well in your farming endeavors!

Nice pictures! My husband's family is in New Ulm, MN - about a 1/2 hour from Mankato. I think that's on the other end of Minnesota from you.
-
New Ulm is a few hours I think from us, mabye 3. I grew up on a ranch, that is the work we did as a kid, with livestock, working dogs, etc...I am excited to get back into it!
-
I just looked on Mapquest. Tentstrike doesn't even register as existing on Mapquest, but Bemidji is about 6 hours north of New Ulm. Johann's dad goes ice fishing at Lake Millelacs and further north past you into Canada - around Black Duck.
We're supposed to be moving to Minnesota next year.

Love the pics. They certainly do seem happy in the snow!

Simply beautiful pictures!! i would so love to have some acreage. hubby wants to buy a few acres just to put up a shed for his toys and let Harley run, he doesn't realize Harley doesn't run unless I do and if nothing is chasing me I'm not running!!!
My best friend just moved to Eden Prarie, MN we are planning on a visit in June I believe there is a Harley Davidson Rally there then.
Anyway your family - dogs and humans are lovely!!!

Funny....Mike looks just like them!!!!!!
-
LOL!!!! I wonder why that is! ::) The kids are joining the Northwoods dog club with me this summer, and will show Aidan and Cali a little to start there are also fun things for the kids too, they learn all about AKC, showing, judging, and are trained with their dog to compete in shows. The kids are very excited. When we add the 2 other Kuv;s this summer, Everyone will have a dog to work with. What do you think Mary? I am excited!

Very very nice!

Mike has been going to puppy school since last summer. He is now bored with obedience so I am thinking I will do agility or rally with him next....until he is ready for therapy. I am going to be gone this summer for about 7 weeks...planni ng on solo kayak trip around Lake Superior starting June 17. I am worried about Mike....it seems he doesn't eat when I am gone and starts throwing up alot. I was just gone most of last week and he is now finally eating again and feeling secure with his family. Dan will be planning on restocking me at parts of the trip and hopefully I will be able to see mikey.......I hate to say it, but I will probably mis Mike more than anything while I am gone. Go figure!!! I am so excited for you....sheep and all....that should be way cool to watch the beasties interact!

It is going to be great I think!~ My Aunt shows and recommended that I also let the kids do Rally with the dogs. She said it is interractive and great fun for you and the dog. I am looking at possibly a few shows this summer around Minnesota for Aidan and Cali with the kids. It amazes me to see Nic, our youngest and only 58 pounds of nothing, work with Aidan on lead, sit, heel, come, down...Aidan is so gentle and listens so well, even distractions don't get Aidan to bolt or pull, any of which could take Nic flying given the huge difference in size and pounds! Aidan is 2 of Nic! I hope Mikey will be ok as well. Beauty was just like that until she was almost 3. When I was gone, she went on starvation mode, refusing food. As she matured she clamed down, and I guess eventually realized I was coming back. She and I are very close. I kept some canned food and frozen chicken livers stocked so Steve could "entice" her to chow. It usually worked enough to keep her from losing any major weight. Solid Gold also makes a pet clamer that seems to really work , all natural stuff. Check on line for solid gold products and you'll find it there. Have fun on your trip! I would miss my fur kids tons , probably as much as my kids! All of them make our family what it is! Anyway! GOOD LUCK!!!take lots of pictures when you go!
