Hello Everyone!

Yes, we also have a clean water dish problem.  We have 3 Newfies, two 2 year old siblings and one 9 month old half brother.  Of course the two boys are pigs and leave their slime & debris in the water dish for their sister!  If she doesn't get the first drink from the clean bowl, she will bark until someone changes the water for her!  She also has a hidden, well it used to be hidden until puppy boy pig found it, a fresh, always clean water dish upstairs in the bathroom.  She hates slime and she lets us know when the boys leave a mess.  We recently found out that their Mom does the same thing because the boys in that house also leave slime in the dish and she won't drink from it either.  Like Mom, like daughter!  Our boys are big pigs but, we love them just the same.  The best is when the boys take a drink and if you don't have a drool towel nearby and they get an unsuspecting person passing by, that lucky person gets a wet, full of drool lap! Summer is even better with shorts on!  Not sure why we shower somedays!

Gotta agree!  Two or in our case three is tons of fun! You end up stealing old bath towels etc...from family & friends just for the dogs!  LOL!  They are tons of fun and keep you surrounded with love and licks!

Enjoy!

Hello!

We have two 2 year old Landseer brother & sister and one 9 month old Landseer male, 1/2 brother (Same Mom, different Dad as our first two).  We have always had big dogs in our family, several Goldens and our vet new we were looking for trying out the Newfoundlands.  Just so happens one day he contacted us, a friend of his had just had a litter.   We were hooked from the first day we met them!  Our big boy Klondike is very sensitive, yet protective at the same time.  He is such a big love.  He is also terrific by instinct in the water.  Our only female Madison is very smart and is very fussy.  When the boys leave their slobber in the water dish, she will bark until somebody gets her fresh water!  Needless to say we have to have a separate hidden water dish for her upstairs for when she goes to bed!  She also goes to bed at 9p.m. and if somebody doesn't walk  her up to bed, you will hear her bark too!  She is a wonderful, smart little brat.  Our latest pup Kelso is a clone of his sister!  Smart, funny and 90% of the day, those are the 2 that are causing the puppy rumpus!   They all love to bring something to you when you come home or first wake up.  They are all very sensitive, sweet and love to swim in the bay.  They are training for pet therapy and water rescue.

We are thrilled with being the proud owners of this wonderful breed.  We are learning things everyday.

Way to go Cowboy!

That is great work!  We hope to have our pups certified for pet therapy by the Fall.  We have also began doing some water rescue work at the shore in the summer here.  It is wonderful and rewarding work making others feel great with loving and adorable dogs!

Keep up the good work!

Hello to one and all, hairy and humans!

I hope this quick e-mail finds everyone and every pup doing well and feeling great! Our family has 3 lovely Landseers!  We have two 2yr. old brother and sister, & one 9 month old brother (same Mom different Dad).  We love our pups to pieces and thoroughly enjoy  them everyday.  We are training them for pet therapy and hopefully water rescue down the Jersey shore.  They love to play with each other and get crazy with wild puppy rumpus several times a day!  We  have always had big dogs, Goldens in the past and we didn't think we could get another Golden right away after 2 of ours passed away a few years back.

I attached a few pics, one of the 3 Knuckleheads, the boys are Klondike (big boy), Kelso, (puppy) and our girl Madison.

Keep the pups happy & spoiled!

Hi Jen,

I am sorry about Sasha, that poor girl.  I hope that your vet will have good news for you when you go this week. Please make a post to the site when you get a chance so we can send hugs and support to both of you.  I have to agree 100% with the other post about that pups probably shouldn't be bred before they are 2 yrs. old at least and then only 2 litters, 3 max.  I hope that this isn't the case for Sasha's troubles.  That poor pup just wants to please you guys and she probably feels bad.  Maybe the vet will have some good news like maybe a bladder infection or something that could be treated quickly.

I had a problem with Madison, my 2 yr. old Newfie girl.  When I first got her she did fantastic with the potty training, very quickly but, then after about a week she started having accidents and peeing frequently  She would pee outside, come right in and pee again in the house.  Turns out she had something weird that was causing the bladder infections.  When she was born there was a pouch that didn't close completely between the Mom and her.  Caused a big pocket where bacterica was builiding and causing the bladder infections.  We didn't discover this til after the first round of antibiotics for the bladder infection.  They were able to fix this pouch when they spayed her and she hasn't had a bladder infection (knock wood) since.  It was a weird freaky thing but, they were able to repair it.

Hopefully your vet will give you wonderful news to help Sasha get better very quickly.

Keeping you  both in our thoughts and good wishes,

Adorable!  Watch out Olympic diving team!  Looks like he is having fun.  I can't wait til our pool is finished to see if our 3 will get in.  The 2 big pups ( 2 yrs. old) swim in the bay, not in the ocean, they are too chicken.  Our little 9 mo. old pup was afraid of the water when he first came home last September.  We shall see if he starts getting in the water this season.

Wolfhound Discussions & Pictures / We use the Giant Orvis beds too
« on: April 20, 2005, 04:56:41 am »
Hello Everyone,

We use the Orvis beds for our 3 Newfies  too.  It is a giant couch type bed with bolsters on 3 sides.  I think they like the feeling of being closed in or something behind them on the 3 sides.  They were expensive but, they have really lasted and we hope they last a very long time too.

Jaime,

I think you are right!  Those boys are so adorable, most dogs are adorable!  Klondike does get a second look on the street and most people stop.  Quite a few turn and go the other way in fear!  He is even a small Newfie at 140lbs or so.  When we walk our 3 guys, people just pull over in cars around our town.  They are a big hit.

Keep Bear Happy!

Jen,

Glad you enjoyed the slide show.  I sent it to Jaime too, she enjoyed also.  I can understand your watering troubles.  Kelso, the 9 month old is nuts about the hose.  If he even sees you walking toward it, it's all over! The big guys usually wait til I say it's ok before drinking from the hose.  I am sure the fun will begin soon enough when it gets hot enough for a few days to put the kiddie pool out for them.  Last year, late Sept. the pup was young but, wanted no part of the water with his siblings.  You are close that is the Barnegat bay pic near the boat launch in Ship Bottom.  Our house is in Ship Bottom.

I am sure your Sasha is loving life in your house!  Maybe once she continues to get playing with the water the Pyr will too.

Keep those puppies happy!

Here's our big boy Klondike. As you can see it was getting a bit warm outside as evidenced by the drool!  Cute as a button our  big guy!
