UFO's in belly
« on: November 17, 2006, 11:46:32 pm »
ok, so diesel ate a UFO (unknown freaggin object) the size of my hand rolled up... literally.  i have no idea what it is, but it looks like a rawhide chewy, just as hard, it just isn't that.  does anyone know how to tell if your dog's having problems because of something like this?  i know the blood in the poop, or vomiting blood, but is there anything else i should watch for?  is there a way to know if your dog has a blockage?

A quick trip to the vets may be the best thing. Especially if it was something that large. Just to be on the safe side.

Farley has had blockages before. The first time he was just a puppy and ate a sock. He was not him self, no energy, would not eat would not drink water-he would not even lick an ice cube. Lucky for us he passed the sock--ugh.
The second one was worse. It was most likely a full blockage. He would not eat or drink again. But this time he threw up really dark vomit that smelled bad (like feces) My dad lives in a rural area with no emerg vets so we gave him castor oil and he threw up whatever he had eaten...it looked like twisted paper towel--we later discovered he had stolen paper towel that we had blotted the grease off of bacon.  We were very lucky both times.

I hope everything is ok.

i called the vet and he said not to worry too much, unless his tummy gets a bloated look, or if every time he eats/drinks he vomits, bloody vomit / poop, or if he is just acting really lethargic / sick... i don't get that one that, diesel is always sleeping anyways.
