I fed my first newf ProPlan and had very little in the way of poo.... considering he was a newf.  Same with our goldie. He is on Proplan and has just a small amt. of waste.  However, Webster is 4 months old, on proplan puppy, and makes enough dog logs in a week to build a log cabin! It is amazing.  I am looking into trying something different.

I love getting all these cards!  Webster gets to "bring" them in from the mailbox.  He looks so proud!  I hope I can get a pic of him doing mail delivery!  Thanks everyone, this is fun.

I'm going to try these ideas..  Thanks.  Hibiclens is a medical soap and I have access to that.  Solarcaine is a "burn/sunburn" spray, usually found wheren the suntain lotion stuff is at walmart or most any drug store.  It has a lidocaine-like substance in it that sort of numbs and dries the area.   Thanks everyone!

Any suggestions for treating hotspots?  Webster has a smelly, itchy place starting under is his arm.  Would love to catch it early and prevent a vet trip!  Thanks for suggestions.

I'm jealous!  Where are you?  I am in Kentucky.  We always get the big talk of snow, but rarely get any big stuff and I do love it so!  I am a home health nurse and love trekking about in the snow to see patients!  Not sure what to say about the 4:30 am stuff.  Webster is still waking us every 3 hours!  At least he will go out to pee, then come back in and USUALLY go right back to crate and to sleep. Good luck tonight.

I would suggest he talk to the pharmacist.  Sounds like the patch is working (ie: "he doesn't want to smoke").  A week has passed, perhaps a lower dose would continue on the good work.  He may not be "allergic" to it, just experiencing some of the side effects.  A lower dose may ease up on the side effects.  I think most folks cough up a lot more gunk the first weeks they are off the cigs.... it is the bronchioles adjusting to cleaner oxygen.  That part should get better, along with his sense of smell and taste.

Webster and Fumble are sooooo much alike!  Webster loves to be squirted in the face! He doesn't like to be told "no" and will cry like a baby, but then he will stop what he was doing....well, for a wee time anyway...

The things I like the best are that they love to be with their people.  Not a dog to be kept all day in the back yard and never seen x feeding time.  They like to be WITH you, whether you are sleeping, reading or doing yard work.  They are so gently for their size. There is grooming involved, but it is fairly easy if kept up with.  They have personality... . great personality! They are companions, they are family.  My first newf literally raised my 4 kids as much as if we had hired a nanny.
The only think I don't like is the inceased vet bills and getting them in/out of cars.  (but we just got a car that would fit!)

I met my husband on line!  He is from New Zealand.  We talked for a  very   l  o  n  g   time before we ever met in person, (he came here), then for almost another year before he came here to marry.  There were NO pick up lines ever used.  No mushy gooey unbelievable anyway kind of lines.  Just good old fashioned talking.  We talked about anything and everything and became good buddies, then good friends and THEN we got a bit more serious.  We've now been married 4 1/2 years and he is still a wonderful loving person.  So.... it is possilbe to find a good guy on here, my best advice is be very picky and choosey who you talk to, there is a lot of sleeze out there.  I could pick out the icky ones within 2-3 minutes.  I think there must be a book of supposedly cute stuff to say on line (usually it is icky, slicky and nasty).  Skip the ones who give you any kind of a line, spend time talking to the ones who just want good clean honest conversation.  You will be glad you did.  I am.

thanks everyone.  Webster seems to be none the worse for wear.  He still plays hard!  Surgery seems to be healing well.  Ears don't smell.  But he still has hairless eye rims.  Hope the meds takes care of that soon.

I'm in Kentucky and would love to meet folks on here, even though my big paw is only a wee pup!
