Not really. I could never get rid of her though I threatened her last night.
My house is neat, no nicknaks, nothing sitting around (only because it is for sale). The only things that are laying around are the remote control to the TV and my cell phone. Neither of which my dogs have ever bothered. Granted, Maia will find a pen, crochet hook, screwdriver, or just about anything else and destroy it in 2 second flat. Rocco only goes after food substances.
Last night, when I got out of shower, both dogs were sitting right outside the bathroom dog. This isn't unusual because for some reason they think I might escape and run away while in there. I stepped over them and happened to look in the family room. What do I see??
What used to be my cell phone, my only phone, my contact to the outside world, chewed up and spread out into 4 pieces. Needless to say it didn't work.
Since I didn't see her do it, I couldn't punish her. I calmly went and picked it and when I turned around, the little princess was belly crawling, eyes averted, toward me. I yelled at the phone and told it that it was a very bad phone. Rocco watched me like I was crazy the whole time and Maia just layed there looking guilty as sin.
Then I got two dog bones and praised the bones and told them how great they were and gave them to the dogs. What does Maia do, she ignores the bone?
So, today, I am going to get a new phone, which I will keep high on a shelf whenever I leave the room from now on. I think I might hide the remote for good measure too.
To add insult to injury, Maia went into heat early (before her spay date on the 21st). The intact male pup next door is very interested in her. Hopefully he is not smart enough to climb the fence and get into the pen to get her. I fear for his life is he succeeds. The neighbors have been warned and all he said was that if the dog went through all that trouble then he should be able to 'get some.' What an intelligent remark!
I don't think Rocco will allow another male to mount his sister but you never know. Either way that little dog will get it. Not to piss anyone off or make anyone think I am unhumane but if he does get ahold of her my vet is willing to do a spay/abort since adding a litter of unwanted pups to the world right now would not be a good idea.
So, that on top of Rocco's barfing all over my new carpet, is what I have been doing this week..
Thank God, it is almost Friday.
