just curious about what ever happened to it and it we're going to have one??
-
I don't know? But.... if given enough notice when and where maybe acouple ladies from Southern Ontario might hook up and make the trip via the 'family van'. We'd have to come dogless but does anyone have some to share?
-
i can share some of my dogs!
-
Heck given the location, if possible, and with lots of notice. we may be able to bring Jigsaw and maybe Memphis even. Not zero, he is nasty with other male dogs, so its safer... let us all know... It should be close to ontario i tell ya that much. i think its 8-9 hrs to get from where i live to the border hahaha
-
I hang my head in BPO shame... please forgive me for letting this fall through the cracks! I am such a jack**s!
I am so ready to get this party REALLY started...
Since Feb. is out... lets get a count for March or April... and we'll nail down a definite date and work on details from there...
-
Ok. well where is everyone from On the SE who will be going?im North East ontario but im sure i can convince hubby... Well, maybe not. but i will try my best hahaha.and if not, we will just have to get a southern ontario meet/greet :) im up for it...
-
Atlanta, GA.
let us know if you need help convincing Hubby ;)
-
LOL thanks. i'll need some help prolly.
He wants to get a Irish Wolfhound, so if anyone is bringing one, that'd be a good way to convince him :) hahaha
-
same here as long as i had a little time to make sure hubby is off. sundays would prob be better, but sat's would prob work too!
-
I can't do it :'( My EDD is April 21st I don't want to risk being that far away from home in mid to late March :( Maybe eventually I could go to one..
-
Yay Meet N Greet!! Feel free to bring me presents because I turn the big 3-0 on March 16th. LOL!
I'll probably be incapaciated the weekend of the 16th, but any of the other ones look a-okay to me! I'd be all for a Saturday road trip, stay the night, then head back to good ol' NC on Sunday.
-
The weekend of March 31 is out for me. My preferred weekend would be April 14-15, I think. Julie, I'm thinking I'm just going to fly. That is a long drive for just a weekend and that gas is pretty expensive!!! Fly with me!!
-
julie jo and nicole you all HAVE to fly! i'm dying to meet all of you!
-
Did anything happen with this? I am in the ATL north area and check this thread once in awhile because I'd love to attend. I'm not even sure of a location, but then again, I can be kind of a dork about details. I have to check my Dane's blackberry daily to see where I'm supposed to be driving him and what playdate he has scheduled. :)
-
So, who thinks April 14-15 would be a good weekend?
-
That would work for me...
-
And...where?
I know we said Atlanta. But, I was thinking it might be fun in North Carolina...sor t of near..umm..oh, let's see. Maybe Apex region?
-
April 14-15 works for me too!
Oh this is so exciting! :)
-
Helooooo?
Let's set a date and get on with this thing!!
-
not sure i'd be able to make it, as hubby is taking vacation already for me to meet my mom in TN. depends on the when and where really.
-
Holly says it has to be in Atlanta or she won't bring her dogs.
I'm not bringing dogs either way cuz I'll be flying...
-
Yeah, I mean...the Load is the celebrity...I don't wanna miss this rare opportunity to bask in his loadliness.
All in favor of Atlanta the weekend of April 14-15?
EYE!
-
depending on where we would meet i MIGHT be able to make it for at least a little bit.
-
NC or Atlanta is good for me, not sure which puppers will be with me...probably Nala as Tonka can't come unless Brandon does and we aren't living together. Hey, maybe I will have a house by then and anyone driving through NC can stay with me....keep paws and fingers crosses
-
Um, Holly? You clearly need to bring ALL the pooches, silly girl. Duh.
-
Oh come on Holly.. NC IS FABULOUS!!
Fine, fine.. have it your way.. Atlanta it is.
(Although Ranger is secretly pouting)
-
I'm pouting, too but I guess we'll just have to cope, Ranger-Roo. :-*
-
You have a CRV! You can fit them all in!!
-
So... is it April 14-15 in ATL? I think I could swing that! :) And I hope you guys like Nigel 'cause that's what you're getting. ;)
-

So, everyone else...is this CONFIRMED then?! Can I buy my tickets?!
-
where are we gonna have it? and are we going to meet both days or one?
-
I don't know! I'm in Indiana, so I'm not the planner. But, I think that there is a dog park somewhere there in Atlanta.
I'll be getting in on the 13th (friday) and I'll probably leave on Sunday. I was kind of thinking we would have the meet on Saturday.
-
you guys gets lots of pics for me.. i hate i cant come but :P maybe sometime in the future i can go to one :P
-
piedmont park has a leash free dog run
-
I'm in if that works for everyone else too. I'll be doing the same thing as Nicole -- coming down Fri. the 13th (YIKES! I just realized that!!! Keep me clear of all ladders.) and leaving on Sat. the 15th.Â
That would be SUNDAY the 15th. hehehe...
We'll avoid ladders together! And go to Canine Cocktail hour! WHOOT!
-
Sooo...let's see...Jenn is in, I'm in...that is almost a quorum or something...
Can we get an official SOUTHEAST MEET-N-GREET CONFIRMATION?!
-
i should be able to pop in for a little bit
-
WHOOOOH! ITS A GO!
I'm so excited!
So, what? Do I have to plan this thing all the way from Indiana? Sheesh. Some people are wedding planners, I'm a meet-n-greet planner. ;)
-
Waaaah can I just say I'm uber jealous?! All you people get to meet Jenn(and each other) and I don't! :'(
-

Megna we can be jealous together, because I can't go either!
-
julie you just HAVE to come, and bring your boys so diesel can meet them!
-
Is the date set for the weekend of the 13th? I just saw an event in Augusta, GA for dock diving and it's scheduled for the 20th. I think I'm going to see if I can get some time off work and go to it. Anyone interested in this event? I would love to meet all of you, too.
-
I am in Charlotte as well, there are some cheap rates through there.
-
I'm in!
-
I am finally back from having a killer cold/sinus infection... and am now playing serious catch-up! I am in for that weekend and so wish I could house you all for the weekend... unfortunately I have a roomie who is a PITA and 7 dogs in the house... some of which who do not like dogs from outside their pack...and actually who don't like some in their pack... but that is a whole other story.
let me know what I can do from here to help y'all. I am in the process of researching dog friendly places in the area. And am looking into off leash parks. I have been to Piedmont Park which is a good size, though it gets pretty busy mid-day.
I am sooooooooo excited to see everyone!
Steffanie... any suggestions for the meet-n-greet?
-
none yet, i haven't gotten to explore too much though! maybe we could talk to a state park and see if they'd be ok if we met there, so long as we "picked up?" here's a dog friendly atlanta list, but keep in mind we should call hotels and make sure they're ok with big paws, as some have a size limit.

-
what city are you coming from?
-
ultimate fares has one leaving the 13th and going back on the 15th for 270= taxes and fees (not sure how much they'd be) from denver to atlanta
-
Haven't seen any posts lately.... is the meet-n'greet still happening?
-
Yayyyyyyy - that sounds good! What part of town are the hotels?
Please, please, please let me know what I can do to help y'all!
-
Oh ladies - this is so exciting! I wish I lived in a HUGE house so everyone could stay there for a SE slumber party! But back to reality for me :(
On your list Jen... The North Druid Hills location is most centrally located and in a pretty safe area. It is within the city limits and about 6 miles from downtown.
As for the Marrow location... I wish I could say if its safe or not, but I've never been... I can say I don't recall ever really hearing anything bad reported in the news from Marrow. :) It is about 15 miles from Atlanta.
I hope this info helps some.
What else can I do to help?
-
hey guys, are we gonna meet at peidmont? if so, you do realize that the hotel in morrow is 20 miles away, right?
-
just called hubby and he said it's a decent area. it would cost a LOT to cab from there to atlanta, and vice versa though :-\
here's a website for tourism in morrow
www.morrowtour ism.com
gonna see if i can find out how much a cab would be, but not sure if i can find that online.
-
just under 18 miles away :-\ if you mapquest it, the addy for piedmont park is Piedmont Park, 1215 Piedmont Ave Ne, Atlanta, GA 30309, US
i went to atlride.com and got a quote, they said for a taxi, their charge is $2 per mile no extra charge for additional riders.
-
I don't know what everyone else is thinking, but the distance doesn't put me off too much. Lets do this ... anyone post any hotels that are closer than 20 miles from Piedmont park, with no dog limits, or weight limits, and we can check them out. We do want to make sure we're somewhere safe though, with plenty of parking and potty room. And we want to move quick.
Sound good guys?
Check out this link:
http://www.dogfriendly.com/server/travel/uscities/guides/us/cities/usonlinecityGAAtlanta.shtml
Most of these listings are within 10 miles of the city and all are within 15. Plus, they seem to all be in safe areas. Of course, I am used to living in this city so your mileage may vary. As far as the multiple dog thing... I think you will have to call them about that.
Parking at the park can be challenging. Most of it is off-street and on the opposite side of the park from the dog park area.
Also, for what it's worth. The Master's Golf Tournament is in Augusta that weekend. Doesn't mean much for Atlanta traffic, but the airport will definitely be more crowded than normal. And normal at Atlanta airport is busy.

Jenn - what did you come up for restaurants? I've been feverishly searching for places, as my pups are not "restaurant worthy" so I haven't had them out dining with me.
1)Park Taven is a pup/restaurant at the park that allows pups. www.parktavern.com (http://www.parktavern.com)
2)Brewhouse Cafe is in Little Five Points.. the alternative, funky section of town www.brewhousecafe.com (http://www.brewhousecafe.com)
3)Mellow Mushroom are pizza joints around town www.mellowmushroom.com (http://www.mellowmushroom.com)
I am still on the hunt, researching... . :)

The Dogwood Festival is the same weekend?!
wow - the park will be packed.
-
the park tavern is also hosting the radio station with bands there, so i'm not sure they'll be allowing dogs that weekend :-\
-
Please note that per a new City of Atlanta ordinance, and for the safety of our patrons, no pets will be allowed in the park during festival hours. This ban does NOT apply to service animals for disabled persons, canines that are pre-registered for the ADF competition, or the off-leash dog area.

cool!
-
there are a few other off leash parks in the metro Atlanta area that aren't as big as Piedmont but might be another option... I will go on a research expedition this weekend and report back. :)
